Someone is heading for even more trouble. He went too far this time. People want answers, and they want them right quick. His petty, vindictive acts are going to take him down. We can hope for sooner than later, because this guy needs to be *kicked* to the curb. He was most definitely the wrong man for the job. It will be good riddance! Thanks to Raw Story:

Cracks are forming in the Republican wall of silence around Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s abrupt firing of Army Chief of Staff General Randy George, with a growing number of GOP lawmakers publicly questioning the move and demanding answers. George, a four-star general who has led the Army since 2023, was told to retire immediately on April 2 with no public explanation from the Pentagon. The silence hasn’t sat well with several senior Republicans who oversee military policy, an unusual display of intraparty friction on a national security matter, Newsweek reported Thursday.

We remember that. Fired him out of the blue, and we still haven’t been given a reason. One “theory” that was floating around was that Hegseth thinks he’s on the way out, and General George would be a logical replacement. So, he fired the general before it could happen. It may have given him a little breathing room, but it’s also backfired. Hegseth is being openly questioned about this decision. He can’t skate out of this one, it seems.

Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA) warned during a House Armed Services Committee hearing this week that George’s ouster could have a “chilling effect” across the military, discouraging senior officers from offering frank assessments for fear of getting axed. Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), a retired Air Force brigadier general, was more blunt. “Firing without cause shows lack of character,” Bacon posted on X, directing that criticism squarely at the Pentagon chief. He also said Hegseth owes an explanation to the tax-paying citizens.”

Indeed, he does. He’s fired several people who could interfere with or be a better choice to run the Pentagon than him. Apparently, Hegseth is just as touchy about his fee-fees as Trump. He’s certainly ridiculously status-conscious. He forgets that manly machismo men don’t use makeup or hair gel. Has he thought of that? Or is it do as I say, not do as I do?

House Appropriations Committee chair Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) called George a “great patriot” whose departure was deeply felt, while retired General Jack Keane — a prominent conservative defense voice — said on Fox News he flat-out disagreed with the decision. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll offered the closest thing to a mea culpa, telling lawmakers Thursday: “I just want the record to reflect how much we regret, I personally regret, at least, he’s no longer in active service. He’s a real loss to us, in my opinion.”

It sounds like Hegseth’s decision is not well thought out. He fired a good man, a good, experienced officer. You don’t get to that rank without being very good at your job. Now that he’s been punted, is there anyone who will dare to tell Hegseth the truth? I hope there is. I hope that someone decides to tell Hegseth to his face that he’s doing it wrong. We’ll see, won’t we?

See you soon!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of elderly, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. IIRC, he bailed out of the Army instead of hanging in for the 20 years to get a pension, which could’ve been because he (and his superiors) saw no prospects for advancement beyond Light Colonel. As a FAUX News bloviator, he caught the eye of our wannabe DICK-tater in DC, so here we are, a wannabe tough-guy with a warrior complex overruling what should be superior officers.

    Only in Trumpworld!

    • I did not know that about him leaving the military! Says something more about him – he couldn’t make the cut, so to speak. And now he’s ‘leading’ the Pentagon with all the attendant responsibilities that he can’t fulfill.

Right now, he won’t be fired because of the damn Iran War, even though he’s doing a sh*tty job and losing people and, and, and. I detest this guy and have right from the get-go/

      Yes, only in Trumpworld!!!

      • As I understand it he was RIF’d, which is what they do when one doesn’t make the next paygrade in a certain time. Whith both enlisted and officers there is a pay grade you can make that protects you from being RIF’d.
