If you missed CNN’s “town hall” tonight, it was a total joke. Go check out theĀ “Trump carnival” as Schmidt calls it. Then listen to the six-minute tape below that Schmidt put up on his Substack page and on You Tube.

“Unmooring of reality from delusion” “Donald Trump lives in a space where he creates his own reality” just a couple of the comments made hereinbelow.

“It was an appalling spectacle.” This wasn’t news. This was a staged event in order to get ratings. There was not ONE new piece of information or new idea in the entire event. And Trump’s audience was all supporters, which is the only ecosystem he can function in. If he’s got any kind of objectivity around him, he flops.

Watch Schmidt.

This error on the part of CNN will be discussed for some days to come. The results generated tonight by Trump were as bad, if not worse, than predicted.

Remember the old cliche that former FCC chairman Newton Minnow came up with, “redeeming social value?” That was supposed to be the yardstick by which a piece of broadcasting was judged? Maybe back in that day but not in this one.

This was an example of the vast wasteland of television — and Minnow is the one who coined that phrase as well. It’s never been more true than tonight.

  1. I didn’t watch. Haven’t watched anything on CNN for many, many years except for some space stuff. I won’t even watch them for that anymore because of what they’ve done. Like Fox, if I could delete it from my cable package it would be GONE! (Would have been long ago in fact) I didn’t need to watch because I knew, as you and others have reported that it was the very thing the legendary Edward R. Murrow warned about in that epic speech so long ago – “wires and lights in a box.” Nothing more, except tonight’s ghastly move by CNN had a distinct orange tint to it!

    • I don’t have cable precisely because I refuse to pay for things that I’m never going to watch. I have Netflix and HBO Max and a few other streaming services. I get TV and movies and I’m just fine. And I’m not supporting Fox News.

    • I guess we’ll see what the actual ratings were and decide if it was worth it for CNN to do. It seems to me that the bad PR and the black eye is a lot more of a downside than one night of ratings — assuming this got a big rating. We’ll know in a couple of days.

  3. It’s said the moderator got taken down a few times, much to the delight of the in-person audience, by the sh!t gibbon. I must say I have a complete lack of respect for the silly twat who should have been controlling/moderating this bullshit. I have to ask-hey you silly twat, was it really worth ALL of your dignity?

  4. Spike, her gender wasn’t the problem. Anyone would have been struggling to contain that barrage of bullsh*t. Her masters at CNN are the real villains. They set it up for the Maga crowd. Disgraceful. CNN will never recover their ‘news’ image after going full nazi propaganda on prime time national TV. Phuck them and all the money whores.

  5. I agreed to turn it on and watch it as long as it was billed as “Comedy.” It lived up to its hype. I thought Collins did a remarkably good job. The audience “selection” by CNN was truly appalling, but as pointed out here and elsewhere in news stories comments sections, “the Cult” lives on.” I think that was the worst of the entire presentation: the fawning audience crap.

By and large I differ with many commenters and think that CNN did us a great service by showing the Mango Moron in full bloom. Now we know for sure what he’s up to these days, same old sh*t, not even warmed up with new material. Good.

i couldn’t take more than 15 minutes, but it did live up to its “Comedy” billing. I’m off now to read the transcript of Biden’s CNN interview from last November. You know, a dose of reality, the real kind.

  6. Body language: watch the video again. 45 looks down and to the right: Self-doubt, and/or imagining things.

45: the malignant narcissist who has spread his malignancy across the country. According to Psychology Today: malignant narcissists have the ability to destroy countries. CNN gave him a platform to continue to do so.

  7. Well I for one am not prepared to drop the gauntlet on CNN because of one bad business decision. How about a little temperance here? I’m sure that the wise folks of management will read the will of their reg followers and now come swiftly away, from that bright shinny thing that burns your fingers when touched? Happily they’ll come back
, eager to put this little fiasco in the rear view news mirror, don’t ya think? We should welcome them back to the real world. And be happy at their return!
