This might even outdo the folks at the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s dystopian novel. They made up facts and figures a lot but I don’t recall that they out and out made up laws. But Stephen Miller — a nonlawyer — has no problem doing that very thing. And it’s good that he’s a nonlawyer, because if he was a lawyer right now there would be howls of derision and disbelief over this latest whopper of his. Daily Beast:

He claimed that, under “the law,” nations were not entitled to their territory if they were unable to defend it. The Trump aide belittled the Danish government, saying its “tiny” military was failing to adequately protect Greenland.

“With respect to Denmark, Denmark is a tiny country with a tiny economy, and a tiny military,” Miller told host Sean Hannity. “They cannot defend Greenland. They cannot control the territory of Greenland. Under every understanding of law that has existed about territorial control for 500 years, to control a territory you have to be able to defend a territory, improve territory, inhabit a territory. Denmark has failed on every single one of these tests.”

Yes, Stephen, and tiny countries were factored in when creating NATO. An attack on one is considered an attack on all. Nevertheless, Trump continues his mob boss rhetoric about “getting Greenland the easy way or the hard way.”
