What is the Republican party doing? Are they seriously and honestly attempting to install kakistocracy in this country, “government by the least suitable or competent citizens of a state?” Because this can’t all be coincidence, one after the other we see a parade of people who are being elevated to positions in politics for which they are utterly unqualified.
George Santos is in deep doo doo. He now officially is the subject of local and federal investigations. The federal investigation, helmed by the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, is focused on his financial dealings, which should be interesting since he took large contributions from one of Vladimir Putin’s BFFs. Meanwhile, Nassau County district attorney, Anne Donnelly, said in a statement that Mr. Santos’s fabrications “are nothing short of stunning.”
That’s pretty much how everybody sees it. But this is new: apparently Santos never even finished high school. New York Times:
On Wednesday, one more possible misrepresentation emerged. During his first campaign, Mr. Santos said on his website and on the campaign trail that he attended the Horace Mann School, an elite private school in Riverdale in the Bronx, but that his family’s financial difficulties caused him to drop out and get a high school equivalency diploma.
But a spokesman told The Washington Post that it could not locate records of Mr. Santos’s attendance, using several variations of his name. The spokesman, Ed Adler, confirmed that report to The Times. Mr. Santos’s press team did not respond to a request for comment.
On Wednesday, the news site Semafor published an interview with Mr. Santos in which he said his work with his company, the Devolder Organization, involved “deal building” and “specialty consulting” for a network of 15,000 wealthy people, family offices, endowments and institutions.
As an example, he said, he might help one client sell a plane or a boat to someone else, and that he would receive fees or commissions. But he provided no details on his contracts or clients to Semafor and has not answered similar questions from The Times.
Sounds like money laundering to me, and/or disguising Russian contributions.
I think we should just pick up Occam’s Razor here, folks. The man is a total phony, 100% scam artist. He makes Lauren Boebert look legit, at least she owned a restaurant at one point, the fact that she poisoned her patrons notwithstanding.
The Russians saw somebody that they could groom as a useful idiot and they did so. And now they are regretting it, and that’s what Tulsi Gabbard’s performance on Fox News the other night was all about. That was an easier, softer way of Russia telling Santos the deal was off, without pushing him out the window of a skyscraper.
It will be interesting to see what the investigations uncover, but for now, I think we’ve figured out what basically has taken place.
The only curious part, is what will it take for the GOP to decide either not to seat the man, or to seat him and then expel him? And that’s easily answered as well: it’s going to have to get really really dirty for the GOP to do anything. Kevin McCarthy will hang on to Santos’ vote as long as he can. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
It was a great scam while it lasted. McCarthy was thrilled to have an openly gay Jew. What a boon and a blessing. What a shame it was all bullshit.
Well, thank goodness that Congressman Santos has finally cleared up this minor embellishment of his educational record. Now, if we could only find out if he really helped raise the flag at Iwo Jima and received the Nobel Peace Prize…

The question that keeps floating through my mind is how many more Santos’s are there out there. Are there others who had there resume’s embellished and financed by Oligarchs Russian or otherwise. I have a strong feeling there are.
Just remember, when they start their investigations in the House, I hope the stenographers on the Hill and those in the MSM remind people, they have “george santos” in their midst.

Not to worried what McCarthy thinks. I don’t see him rising to power. To much baggage. In my book I see an alliance between republicans and Democrats. Now for the 64 dollar question. What the hell is any of these clowns going to do. Did anyone notice that the president is a Democrat and that the Senate is held by Democrats. There’s only three branches of government and the one that these clowns hold would do better with the Keystone cops. At least they would make it entertaining. The republicans couldn’t scramble their way out of a wet paper bag.
