This is really something. It shows Russia’s opinion of the US. If this gets accepted, there is going to be a huge, RAGING backlash the likes of which we’ve never seen before. Had to wait to write about this today because it’s challenging to write when you’re really, really angry. Right now, there’s not much going on. We shall see how this plays out. Thank you, Raw Story:
Russia proposed a quid pro quo arrangement to President Donald Trump’s envoys that would result in giving up on Ukraine. The Kremlin offered to stop sharing intelligence information about U.S. military assets with Iran if Washington stopped doing the same with Ukraine against Russian forces, two sources familiar with the negotiations told Politico.
Oh, HELL NO. That’s some amazing backstabbing going on there. Abandon Ukraine? No. That’s a non-starter. No matter what you think about the US sending arms to the country, the *fact* is that they are in a war they did not start. Russia keeps pounding them. Think about how much help we could have given them out of the $65 billion we’ve spent in Iran. Some of that could have helped Ukraine turn the tide in its war. But no. It seems folks have forgotten Ukraine. We already knew Russia was helping Iran, of course.
The offer was made by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev to Trump administration envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner last week during a meeting in Miami, according to the sources, but the U.S. rejected the proposal. European diplomats expressed alarm that Russia even made the offer, which they saw as an effort to drive a wedge between Europe and the U.S., and they are suspicious that Dmitriev is trying to lure Witkoff into a Ukraine peace agreement that ignores European interests.
At least Witless Witkoff made the right decision. That’s serious arrogance to think we’d agree to such a thing. But knowing Trump and his ‘cabinet’, it’s still surprising. We all know how Dumbass Donnie loves Pootie. Could it be possible that there was actually some thought about this? Maybe. Maybe someone told Donnie what a disaster the mistake would be. Maybe he listened. So far.
Russia has been sharing intelligence with Iran about U.S. military operations in the Middle East since the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation began nearly three weeks ago, but Trump excused those efforts by linking them to Ukraine. “[Russian President Vladimir Putin] might be helping [Iran] a little bit, yeah, I guess,” Trump said last week, “and he probably thinks we’re helping Ukraine, right?” Another person familiar with the talks said Russia has made various other proposals to the U.S. about Iran, including an offer to move Iran’s enriched uranium to Russia, but the U.S. has rejected them all.
A little bit? A LITTLE BIT??!!! GTFOOH!!!!!! There’s no “little” about it. Pootie knows a whole lot about the US and its military, much as we hate to think about it. We don’t know nearly as much about Russia. (I wish we were helping Ukraine. It’s frustrating to find out how much they are being driven into the dirt.) I sincerely hope we don’t accept any of Russia’s “deals” because we *will* get the short end of the stick. As I’ve said multiple times, we don’t need to be in this illegal war in Iran. Knowing that Russia is helping “the other side” is something that we can prepare for. We should have anticipated that Russia would help Iran. It was obvious nearly from the get-go. And the war drags on.
To everyone whose comments I haven’t replied to, yes, I will today! See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

We have NO business making any deal that omits Ukraine from the negotiations, when it concerns their future or best interests.
No arguments from this peanut gallery. If the war with Ukraine is discussed, Ukraine has to *be there*. I’m still so pissed we hadn’t, and aren’t, supported/supporting Ukraine much better. How would the people here feel if we got into a war with Mexico or Canada? Now, that’s facetious, but people ought to think about what it would be like to be in Ukraine’s shoes. They’re getting hammered. The war with Iran is a completely different animal.
Putin admits to supporting Iran with Intel against US interests (i.e. illegally doing to Iran what Russia is doing to Ukraine) yet Trump and his maladministration continue to support Russia in Ukraine. Textbooks on cognitive dissonance being rewritten!
Got that right, unfortunately. I’m really damn tired of Ukraine getting clobbered. I donate to a fund for them, but otherwise there’s not a damn thing I can do. It’s frustrating.
first, how does russia have this intel on what we’re doing? second, given russia’s aid to iran why did trump cave on sanctions on russian oil?
Epstein…the answer to both questions.
My guesses would be Tulsi Gabbard and Epstein. Ugh.
