Now we are in a position where Marco Rubio is the voice of reason. That’s an incredible thing but then we live in an incredible age. I think that the first time “Liddle” Marco really impressed himself on my consciousness was during 2016. There was a hurricane headed for Florida and Rubio just kept fundraising. His constituents were literally being told to pack their bags but Rubio’s fundraising emails went out more reliably than health and safety alerts. This clip is also from 2016 and he’s making a lot of sense here. What a shame that he went to the Dark Side along with everybody else.

No, things will not end well, one way or the other. We had our shot in 2016 and apart from killing 1.1 million Americans by botching the COVID response and tanking the very sound engine that was the Obama economy, we came out of Trump 1.0 relatively unscathed — compared to where we are now.

Now we have 2025 authors running the budget office, we have Fox News *talent* in cabinet posts, we have a Ketamin-compromised unelected official firing people from federal jobs right and left and it’s only just begun. Things are a wreck. We were honestly better off when Steve Bannon was bickering with Jared Kushner in the White House. Those days were appalling but not nearly as bad as what we’re looking at right now.

Speaking of Musk, if anybody is making Rubio’s life harder now, it is Elon Musk. Just today, Musk antagonized the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Poland.

Click into the tweet and you’ll see where Musk calls him “Small man.” Musk probably tweets when he’s loaded but then Secretary of State Rubio is in the position of having to explain to the people he must do business with why Musk says and does what he says and does. That cannot be easy.

All of that said, Rubio saw the handwriting on the wall back in 2016. They all did. Lindsey Graham did. Mike Lee did. Ron DeSantis did. But they all eventually bent the knee and kissed the ring. When Lindsey Graham said, “If we nominate Trump he will destroy us and we will deserve it,” I thought he meant “we” being the Republican party. And I’m sure that’s right, since the tweet was in spring 2015.

But the way things have turned out, maybe Graham spoke for the country. That Trump will destroy all of us. That’s a sobering thought.

  1. Sadly, yup. And we Canucks are on the front line of this monumental juggernaut of this utter batcrap stupidity. And when Trump warned Zelensky about starting WW3, I thought “projection, much? You clown!”

  2. Hey Ursula…any read on when us pissants get swept up for saying the word ‘war’, as people do in Moscow? King Stupid just ended free speech AGAIN by arresting Kahlil the protester from Columbia. Homeland Security…the new brownshirts. It was under the guise of antisemitism, which is rich considering Jews are also protesting against the genocide in Gaza. Hitler basically got around to everyone. Darkness can’t tolerate even one lit candle. Trump can’t tolerate the truth from any source.
