Yes indeedy, he really does. He didn’t think about all sides of what he said, and he can’t un-say it. There used to be some good things about him that seem to have slipped away. He was one of the few decent people in Trump’s ‘cabinet’. Now? Not so much. It’s sad to see. This time he gets caught flat-footed. With respect for Raw Story:
Independent journalist Justin Glawe flagged a telling remark from Secretary of State Marco Rubio made this week, one seemingly made to compliment President Donald Trump’s cognitive abilities – but ended up making “the opposite point,” Glawe wrote in an analysis published Saturday on his Substack. Rubio said he had never seen the president doze off, and that “on the contrary, the guy doesn’t sleep, which is a big problem.”
Heh. Doesn’t sleep. He sleeps during the day and not at night when most people sleep. His schedule seems to be almost the opposite of the rest of us. He’s certainly posting accusations and, on the other extreme, is framing himself as the martyr and how he’s working so hard for us. Stuff and nonsense. We all know better, but he doesn’t see it. Talk about willfully blind! He sits *right next* to the ‘president’ at ‘cabinet’ meetings! He shouldn’t have said the president being up all night is a problem. Oops, Mr. Rubio.
“Rubio was trying to make the point that President Trump is a dynamo – a near-superhuman leader who works deep into the night on the complex issues facing the nation and world,” Glawe wrote. “But Rubio inadvertently made the opposite point: Trump’s lack of sleep, evidenced by his frequently manic, late-night Truth Social posting sessions, is a problem for the president’s clearly declining mental and physical abilities. The signs of this decline are available for anyone who chooses to see them.”
Yup. Shouldn’t have said not sleeping was a problem. He “told” on Trump, so to speak (remember doing that?), when he was trying to boost him in his session with the House Foreign Relations Committee, answering questions. Hmmm, did they ask him about what he was trying to do to Cuba? But, back on topic. Mr. Rubio was testifying. And he put his foot in his mouth. We thought he was intelligent, but he just tries to schmooze Trump and support him in whatever he’s doing. Does anyone know if he does his actual job anymore? And here are some bonus tidbits from the rest of the article.
Trump’s physical health has been called into question after the president has been observed with swollen ankles, bruising on his hands, a rash on his neck and appearing to doze off during meetings. His mental health has equally been called into question as Trump nears his 80th birthday this month. No one in the Trump administration has offered a remotely plausible explanation for Trump’s physical ailments. They are met by the White House with disdain, denial, mockery, and lies. The state of Trump’s cognitive abilities has also, according to Glawe, reached a point where it’s become a legitimate threat to the United States’ national security.
Heh. Ya think??!! He’s been a threat for a while, and it started with AI. Actually, it probably started before artificial intelligence, and it just allowed him to enhance what he’s thinking. That’s disturbing. Mr. Rubio has become just another sycophant. It’s sad to see. He seems to have lost his voice and his intelligence to become just another yes-man to Trump. Oh, well. So much for that man.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
