We thought Susie’s cancer problem was bad. This one is worse. This one is literally heartbreaking and painful. Again, illness is not something we should wish on anyone, tempting though it may be. Trying not to wish Covid on Dumbbell Donnie was a challenge. There were slips. And it did get him, much as they tried to hide it. But what I’m about to tell you is just unfair. It’s somewhat related to politics, but not exactly. With respect to Raw Story:
President Donald Trump drew audible gasps while speaking at the Kennedy Center on Monday after apparently revealing that a GOP lawmaker had received a “terminal” diagnosis and was expected to be “dead by June.” Sitting beside House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Trump was discussing the Republican Party’s slim majority in the House and how the deaths of several GOP members in recent years have made it harder for Republican speakers to advance the president’s agenda.
That’s really damn callous. Announcing that out of the blue, when the lawmaker has months left. (And he’s having problems with “his agenda”.) Trump had no business talking about it at the Kennedy Center. It’s not his news to give. But he had to blurt it right out. Let’s hope that whoever it is beats Dingdong Donnie over the head about it. What a wretched thing to do!
“We had one man who was very ill, it looked like he wasn’t gonna make it, I don’t know, I won’t mention his name,” Trump said before turning to Johnson. “Should I? Do other people know his name? You want to mention it? He’ll be proud. Go ahead, tell them the story.” After being pressed to share details, Johnson revealed that Rep. Neal Dunn (R-FL) had recently dealt with “some real health challenges” that he described as “very serious.”
They should have left it alone. They should have let Rep. Neal Dunn announce it, or not, as *he* chose, not for those two yahoos to spread the word. It’s surprising we didn’t see a nuclear cloud go up from wherever he is when he found out they’d done this. We can only imagine what he’s feeling at the moment. To get horrible news and then to have it broadcast by people with loose lips is probably quite a kick in the gut.
“[He] had a pretty grim diagnosis, and I mentioned it to the president and I said Congressman Dunn is a real champion and a patriot because he’s still coming to work, and if others got this diagnosis, they would be apt to go home,” Johnson said. “What was the diagnosis?” Trump asked. “I think it was a terminal diagnosis,” Johnson said. “He would be dead by June!” Trump blurted out. A visibly taken-aback Johnson paused for a moment before responding. “Okay, that wasn’t public,” he said, sparking audible gasps in the room. “But yes, okay. It was grim, that’s what I was going to say.”
Sonuvabeotch. Nice going, Trumpie. That’s personal business, not something for the nation. It angers me. Yes, what’s done is done. It still angers me. We know Trumpie has feefees, because they get hurt “all” the time. But to do that to someone who is already having a tough enough time, well. He doesn’t think about how anyone else’s feelings might be. That’s complete and utter bullsh!t. Time for the virtual Slap Machine™. Best of luck to Congressman Dunn.
