Read A Beautiful Tribute To Joe Biden, Penned By A Former Republican

If history is even the least bit fair to Joe Biden, he will be more appreciated by future generations than he is by his own. It’s sad but true.

I’ve long been an admirer of Biden. I believed, clear back in 2017 that the Democrat best equipped to beat Trump the next time around was Biden. And then in 2018 when I read an article in Politico about Uncle Joe being the Democrat that Trump openly feared, that Biden should run against him in 2020. I got shot down for that opinion. Oh no, the gurus of the Democratic party were going to rub an oil lamp and come up with a genie.

Democrats can be obtuse. And we had some terrific candidates, which in a sane world, which the years leading up to the 2020 election emphatically were not, we might have put together on a dream ticket. One such dream ticket would have been Elizabeth Warren in the top spot with Pete Buttigieg as her VP. That would have been a fine use of our talent. But it never would have flown against Trump. Biden was the only one who could do it, and he was reviled for his age, on both sides of the partisan divide, from the get go. This Twitter thread is a lovely tribute to the man and puts in context who he is and what he has done for us — achievements made all the more impressive by the fact that the man is no spring chicken.

The simple fact about the Biden presidency is that nobody has ever been elected under the conditions that he was. No.Body. This nation has never been this divided. This nation never had a chief executive who did more to destroy the country than to govern it, like Biden’s predecessor. Biden inherited a mess of colossal proportions.

People think that because Trump is gone, we’re all back to normal. No way. During Trump’s regime the State Department was gutted, for one thing, and it may take years for it to get back to where it once was.

The plain truth is, we don’t know all the details of what Trump and his minions did to undermine our government, particularly in the first two years when he had a unified government and was going completely wild and Steve Bannon was running the West Wing. The documents found at Mar-a-Lago could well be only the tip of the iceberg. It would be naive to think otherwise.

We don’t know what secrets Jared Boy Wonder Kushner sold and to whom. We can only speculate that he did a solid to the Saudis since they invested $2 billion in his clap trap company, something that never would have happened in a million years, had he not been Trump’s son-in-law.

We have been through some horrifying times and Biden has come through for us and brilliantly so. When I hear people criticize his age or his stutter I want to slap them.

Joe Biden teared up when Barack Obama unexpectedly gave him the Presidential Medal Of Freedom and called him “the best vice president America’s ever had” and a “lion of American history.” Biden praised the generosity of Obama’s spirit and said, “I don’t deserve this.” Yes, you do, Joe. If you didn’t deserve it then, you sure as hell deserve it now. You earned it.

Joe Biden saved America. We might not have that perspective now, but history may. I hope it does, because that would be fair, and nobody has been fair to Biden the past two years.
