This is absolutely something not expected in today’s world. We should be past the days of rabid racists. But they’re around, in public and in private. How can these people live like that? It seems they don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s white vs all others. This person is going to be competing for Mitch McConnell’s seat. It’s coming up soon. May the other man win. As part of an interview with Kentucky Democrat Charles Booker, who is running for the seat now held by retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R), MS NOW host Jonathan Capehart was left, as he put it, “bereft of words,” after watching a flagrantly racist ad being run by GOP nominee Andy Barr.
There is your introduction. Andy Barr is a born, dyed-in-the-wool racist. That’s creepy. Now we have living proof that those people do still exist. May we throw them into the ocean? That’s not serious, of course. Perhaps it’s hiding behind the public persona. For Charles Booker, it appears to be what you see is what you get, and here are his qualifications and intentions. For Andy Barr, it’s what you see is what you get, but in a repulsive manner. It shouldn’t be that way. Not in 2026. And we could make a crack about “Well, it’s Kentucky”, but that’s uncalled for. That state used to be democratic, but they have put Republicans into the seat since 2000. Mr. Booker will be fighting an uphill battle. But this gets better or worse depending on your viewpoint.
In the ad, a smirking Barr tells Kentucky voters, “You know what DEI really stands for? Dumb evil indoctrination. Woke liberals spew it. Corporate losers fall for it. But thanks to Trump, America is rejecting that trash, and I’m leading the fight to end it for good.” “I’m Andy Barr, and it’s not a sin to be white. It’s not against the law to be male. And it shouldn’t be disqualifying to be a Christian. I’m Andy Barr, and I approve this message to give woke liberals something else to cry about,” he added.
…. It’s stunning even when it’s put into words, and not even seeing the actual ad. Now you know why we needed to talk about this. It’s a problem, and not a small one. If this guy wins the seat and becomes a senator in Congress, all bets are off. He’ll piss off the Democrats and be proud of it. There will be racist remarks made about anyone who isn’t white. There will likely be racist comments made about women, too. It goes with the territory.
After the clip ran, Capehart sat with his mouth open before admitting, “Okay, that was my first time seeing that ad in full. My breath has been taken away. I am bereft of words. Your reaction to that?” “Well, well, good lord, he knows enough to be ashamed of himself, but he doesn’t care enough to do anything different because he sold out,” Booker offered.
BOOM. Sold out. That’s one way to put it. It makes you wonder how this ad is being received in the state. Dare we hope that most of them are better than that and will vote blue in November? Let’s do that. Let’s hope that they are. In the meantime, we also hope Booker’s team will be coming up with ads in opposition to that …. Racist. They still exist in today’s world. Good grief.
