This is a cause for concern. Events might happen or not happen, something might help, but one thing is going to fade away.  There are all sorts of gossip and rumors flying around that mean the midterms might be okay for the Republican Party. That then means we need to start working a lot harder and a lot smarter *now*. It seems that there’s a blue wave rolling, working itself up to a tsunami, but. Compliments to Raw Story:

One Trump administration insider offered an unsettling warning about the president, according to a new report. President Donald Trump has been seemingly weathering a barrage from all sides, according to a report from The Atlantic. He’s faced mounting bipartisan criticism over the deal he struck with the Iranian regime. Meanwhile, inflation is up, and Trump’s poll numbers are sinking among several key demographics. In turn, Republicans are fearing a “November wipeout,” according to the report, as “Trump, whose political image revolves around strength, finds himself diminished.”

That’s what we had thought, all of us. He is diminishing. He’s hunching over. He’s gained weight. He has trouble walking. And those are just a few of the physical things we’re seeing. Then there are the mental issues. He’s being really changeable about working out something with Iran. He’s getting worse with the threats and walk-backs. The oh dark hundred Truth Social rants seem to be lessening, and now that it’s been mentioned, he will, of course, start up again. Whether or not he has realized he’s slowing down, or he refuses to acknowledge it, we don’t know. Everything he touches seems to be sliding downhill. Well, wait, he is ranting about the Reflecting Pool. We’ll just skip merrily along because that is a MESS.

But people around the president are singing a different tune, according to the report. They believe the war “won’t have much political staying power,” the report noted. They also reportedly believe that recent Supreme Court decisions about cultural issues and the World Cup will overshadow Trump’s war follies and help him change the subject. “The midterms are months away,” one official told The Atlantic. “We’ll have lots of plot twists by then.”

The World Cup is not going to do what they think it is. There are people who haven’t even been able to get into the country, no matter whether they have game tickets and hotel rooms. Some players haven’t been able to get in. We can expect a drop-off as teams are knocked out of contention.  The WC will not do for us what it could have if Trump and DHS hadn’t decided they were going to be dicks. There’s a lot of shizzle going on you don’t see on TV.

Trump faces an uphill battle to change the subject, even with the help of his seemingly optimistic aides. After all, he’s faced with a Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool project that has become anon-the-nose metaphor for the state of his presidency” and a MAGA state fair that several big acts pulled out of because they found the booking invitation to be misleading. “In the face of these struggles, Trump has continued to try to create his own reality,” the report added.

Yes, he does, and it rarely matches anyone else’s reality. That’s the problem. Nothing is going to change unless he’s willing to see a problem, such as his really abysmal poll numbers. But that’s “Fake News”. And since he won’t, there’s nothing much that can be done. People can try to convince him that something was his idea, even if it was theirs, and possibly accomplish something that way. Or Congress can squeeze out enough of a majority on something that they can override a veto. Our country is a mess.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
