Joe Biden has taken a certain amount of heat for pardoning his son but it all comes down to this: at least it is now over, this deranged witch hunt of the president’s and former vice-president’s son, who is a Bond villain to hear the right wing tell it. Now the hew and cry in the land is, “Joe shouldn’t have done it! Now Trump will pardon all the J6 criminals!” Trump was and is going to do whatever he wants, regardless of one pardon by Biden. Pundits can frame the Hunter Biden pardon as a dreadful thing, and I get where they’re coming from, but I disagree with it. The pardoning of Hunter does not open the door for Trump to do anything that he didn’t fully intend to do before.
But on the other hand, Hunter has suffered enough, we all have, and at least now the witchhunt is over and it’s laid to rest. What you’re about to see is what Hunter was going to have to deal with next and what the rest of us would have had to sit through.

I’m not even going to speculate what Patel might be up to or not. People can criticize Joe Biden six ways to Sunday but at least he ended this circus sideshow conclusively and has given us all a break. The country doesn’t need the drama either. If James Comer had had a case, we would have seen that by now. We would have seen substance and not theatrics. There is no substance and we’re all tired of theatrics.
Plus, Kash Patel will have plenty of people to go after. He’s run down a list of them, Bill Barr, Mark Esper, Gina Haspel, Rod Rosenstein, Chris Wray, Merrick Garland, Lisa Monaco, and about 70 others, according to the Bulwark. We’re looking at a constitutional crisis per week, at this rate.
