Okay, folks, here we go! First, Trump has them go in and kidnap President Maduro and his wife, and then they start blowing things up. They pay no attention to the other party there, who are perfectly capable of handling this without him. Then *this* happens: With thanks to Raw Story:
The White House ignited backlash on Monday when it took to social media to brag that President Donald Trump stands with Venezuelans and democracy after greenlighting a midnight mission to capture strongman Nicolás Maduro and bring him to the United States to face trial. Maduro was seized in Caracas in a U.S.-led military-law enforcement operation and flown to New York, where he was in federal custody on narco-terrorism and drug-trafficking charges. He and his wife, Cilia Flores, were brought under tight security to court, where both pleaded not guilty. Maduro insisted he remains Venezuela’s legitimate president.
Wrong! Kidnapping the leader of a country (sounds like something Putin would do), and then he says we are going to run the country. Oh, and take all that lovely oil that’s just waiting for him. Well, first of all, that’s going to be a lot more difficult than he thinks. Secondly, he told the oil companies about this first before anyone else. And third, the Venezuelan people are more than capable of running their own damn country. You can bet they have seen what Trump has done to our country.
In a way, he’s worse than Maduro. He’s gotten a lot of money from the people of America, even if we didn’t and don’t support him, it’s still from everyone. The irony is that he’s actually grifting things just as much as Maduro did. And then he wants part of the reward for capturing him that was posted by the US! (Found that tidbit in another article, but cannot specifically state the source. Oops.)
On Monday, the White House took to its official X account to declare, “For the record, PRESIDENT TRUMP stands with the Venezuelan people and for democracy.” Attached to the post were four images of what the White House labeled as “Democrat hypocrisy on Maduro.” One featured a newspaper clipping of the Biden administration raising the bounty on Maduro to $25 million, and another was posted by Biden, accusing Trump of “talk[ing] tough” on Venezuela, but actually admir[ing] thugs and dictators.”
Sounds about right, doesn’t it? Thugs and dictators and Trump, oh my! He’s only going to stay with Venezuela until he gets all the oil. That’s probably going to leave the country in even worse condition than it was before. And it will also be dropped in our next president’s lap. (As long as it’s not Vance or Rubio, that is.) Well, let’s move on to the fun part of the article – comments about this on Xitter:
The post led to a heaping of criticism in the comment section, with one user questioning, “By leaving them with the same regime? The Incompetence of this administration is astounding.” //// “You forgot to mention ‘and Oil,'” chided another X user. //// Rose Benson questioned on X, “How? He disrespected the people’s choice for opposition.” ////
Commentator Araquel Bloss, a Trump voter, wrote on X, “He’s breaking US Law, the Constitution, and the international treaties we’ve committed. We’ve become a lawless, rogue state. And I voted for Trump to *not become Obama or McCain or George W Bush, but here we are in the most dangerous circumstances a President has ever put us in; completely ignoring the checks and balances and Constitutional power of Congress. Trump is putting our country at risk for an attack on our soil and at any of our global bases. Impeach Trump. Or just drag him out by Court Marshall.”
Anthony LaMesa chimed in, “So why did he talk about oil more than democracy?” //// Dr. Sylvie Watikum echoed the sentiments of many others, firing back, “And for oil and regime change.”
Trump is so full of hooey. He can’t admit his physical health is going downhill, so he goes out and kidnaps the leader of a country and his wife, then saunters into that country and says we’re taking over. He is a Manly Man and Strong and will run the Country even if they have a perfectly legal democracy that went sideways under Maduro. Then he attacks people in his late-night Truth Social posts that he vomits out of his mouth. Now we have an authoritarian “president” running our country and Venezuela, too!!! Stop the world, I want to get off. Please.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
