Couldn’t resist this article. It’s a little funny but mostly sad. Trump isn’t doing very well these days. He’s aging faster and faster, but as we well know, the ‘cabinet’ won’t “do the 25th Amendment” on him. He’s embarrassing. It’s pitiful. As much as we detest Trump, if you take a step back and really look at him, he’s pathetic, an aging, senile man who can’t see himself as he really is, only as he was. Gratitude to Raw Story:

James Carville, the veteran Democratic strategist and perennial Trump critic, is making a stark prediction, The Daily Beast reported on Thursday: the president won’t be in office by next year. Speaking on Politicon’s Politics War Room, the 81-year-old former Bill Clinton associate didn’t mince words about what he’s observing in the 79-year-old commander-in-chief.

“I just don’t see this guy being President of the United States by this time next year,” Carville said. “And I increasingly believe that we’re on a much shorter leash than that.”

Trump really doesn’t have what it takes anymore. He’s physically and mentally deteriorating. Every time he goes out in “public,” he looks worse, and that’s just the physical that we can see. There have been reports on how he’s having trouble breathing, having trouble reading, and doing “the Trump thing”. Nothing seems to get him excited anymore, which is when he seems most like himself, the way he used to be.

The “rate of deterioration,” Carville insisted, is evident to anyone paying attention. “I don’t have to be a neurologist, anything like that. I mean, we’ve all seen it. And you’re looking at it right in front of your eyes. And it’s not wishful thinking, it’s not projecting. It’s just what’s happening.”

But there’s more to it than just Trump’s physical and mental health, Carville added — it’s also the fact that Trump’s words and antics don’t command the attention they have for years.

People are giving less of a [expletive] of what he says,” said Carville. “Foreign leaders, voters, politicians. It’s not the same job he had a year ago, and it’s clearly not going to be the same job come November.”

Yep. Trump starts going off on a tangent, and everyone rolls their eyes, yawns, and waits for him to shut up again. He doesn’t have the presence he used to. That big, high-energy speaking and acting has faded down to a whisper. It’s as if he’s shrinking in on himself. Go back and look at him at the beginning of this term, or his previous term, and the difference is startling. He’s not just an old man; he’s an elderly man now. And sounding repetitive, imagine if this had been former President Biden.

Over recent weeks, Carville believes the situation has reached a critical inflection point. “I think that he’s turned a corner, and turned a corner in a really substantial way,” he said. “It’s a bad situation right now, and honestly — I’ve cried wolf so many times, but I think this time it’s really the wolf. I really do.”

Trump has repeatedly claimed he doesn’t have any significant cognitive issues, and bragged that he “aced” the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) — a simple screening test used to evaluate people already suspected of dementia.

Sitting here shaking my head. We know you can’t “ace” a cognitive test. It doesn’t work like that. If they’re giving it to him, they may already know what we suspect. Since they won’t ever release that information, we can’t be certain. He *is* going downhill. He’s still the ‘president,’ and he still has the nuclear codes. He continues to wreck America. He continues to insist he’s fine, even when he goes off on a completely nasty direction. (A president blatantly talking about sex? Yuck.) He isn’t. We know it. What will it take for him to figure it out? Or is that a pipe dream? (No, I have not changed my mind about him.)

See you tomorrow!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of elderly, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Very true, but more charitable than I can be right now. When he’s dead, I’ll pity him; right now I’m too busy pitying the nation. Except, of course, for everyone who voted for him in 2024….

    • *You* can “pity” Drumpf when he’s dead. I, on the other hand, will remember the words of Julia Sugarbaker:

It’s one of her tamer disses but it’s still brutally savage. And, oh how we need someone of her bearing now.

(For what it’s worth, actress Dixie Carter was pretty conservative in real life but she was a TRUE professional and could make you believe she was an absolute liberal firebrand who’d make Bernie Sanders and AOC look like MAGAts.)

      • Oh, that was good! Yes, it was awesomely savage and hilarious! If only someone could actually do that. Probably get in trouble but damn, it would be worth it!

My pity is for an aging, senile old man, a human being. Trump, on the other hand, only got pitied as long as I was writing the column. But he really is.

    • I try to be balanced in my columns when possible. But yes, I’m much more concerned about the country … hell, nearly all of the world than I am about him! We agree on that much 🙂

  2. I look forward to the day when I can turn on TV, read an I-net post, pick up a newspaper or magazine, and not see his ugly face. What a pathetic wretch.

    • Won’t that be marvelous! Every minute that goes by gets us closer to that point, the sooner, the better. Not having to see his face everywhere and needing something for nausea. Dreading the next stupid thing he will do. Waiting to see who he is going to sue next, or who he’s raging at, and the list goes on as you well know. It’s actually more like work than one might think on the surface.

  3. Yup – he just said Iran will give up their ‘yellow dust.” Dust? They gonna go out into the desert and gather up some “dust” and give it to him? HE’S INSANE.

    • I hadn’t heard about that yet. Yes, he is. Someone needs to kick his cabinet and get them to DO something. Oh well, I can dream.
