One thing about Trump that horrified the GOP old-guard was his abandoning the so-called “dog-whistle” stuff that had been so carefully crafted and effectively used for decades. However even Trump hasn’t completely abandoned it. Trump isn’t smart but he’s savvy, or at least media savvy so even he doesn’t go so far as to use the n-word. One term that’s made it’s way into use is ‘D.E.I’ as in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Like his (and so many conservatives) use of the world “Thug” when Trump uses the term “D.E.I. what he really means is “n****r. So George Conway has cut an ad flipping “D.E.I” back on Trump by redefining it.
I want to drive a point home about use of the term D.E.I. “It’s racist and sexist talk for ‘Hey white folks, especially you guys…Liberals want to take from YOU and give jobs and government goodies to women and n*****s.’ But it’s mostly saying to white people that black people (especially non-white European ones) immigrants are getting stuff from the govt. That should by god be ONLY for whites. D.E.I is the code phrase and Trump has of course tried to paint Kamala Harris, a Black Woman as a D.E.I Vice-President who now wants to be President.
I don’t need to recount all the insults Trump has hurled at Harris, from her racial makeup to her intellect and ability. It all boils down to Trump claiming if she wasn’t black and a woman she’d have never become VP. Or Senator or California Attorney General for that matter! However the plain fact is that unlike Trump Harris has worked hard since she was growing up attending public schools to become successful. That combination of hard work and intellectual gifts, along with a huge dose (thanks to her mom and her mom’s friends who helped out) of empathy and concern for others has taken her to great heights. If we’re fortunate, and not stupid enough to squander the opportunity Harris will reach the pinnacle of power in this country and become our President. And she will have earned it!
Trump on the other hand is a child of privilege who still is at heart and intellectually a freaking child. Had he not been born to wealth and to a father who had no choice but to bequeath the family business to him Trump wouldn’t be jack-sh*t. He’d be some sleazy used car salesman on some little lot way the hell off the main drag in town. So as this article from HuffPost says George Conway has cut an ad pointing out the obvious – there IS a ‘D.E.I’ candidate in this race and it’s Donald Trump! From the linked article:
“Donald Trump and his enablers have flailed about trying to question Vice President Harris’s qualifications through misogynistic and racist dog whistles and tropes,” Conway said in a press release sent to HuffPost.
“But the presidential candidate whose qualifications—temperamental and moral, as well as intellectual—are severely lacking is Trump himself,” he added. “For years now he has demonstrated his derangement, egomania, and incompetence to the nation and the world. He’s the D.E.I. candidate in this race.” Conway’s PAC has previously mocked Trump with billboards and other damning commercials.
Trump is the epitome of the time of person Michelle Obama was talking about at the Democratic National Convention when she spoke of the privilege and grace of being allowed to ‘fail forward.’ Yep. Conway has Trump pegged. And his new ad whacks Trump around like a tetherball:

Yep. All those white, far-right conservatives don’t mind a little “DEI” when they’re the beneficiaries of the system. Things like “college legacy admissions” (I still find it incredible that some Hollywood celebrities got put through the wringer for doing something that thousands of “wealthy” and “well-connected” families do ALL THE TIME without the slightest bit of trouble) or the “good ol’ boy” network (that still pervades the corporate mindset). And, of course, they don’t have any problem with their *own* “DEI” hires like Tim Scott (who only got appointed to his Senate seat by Nikki Haley for the “optics” involved in replacing Jim DeMint–who resigned from the Senate to join the Heritage Foundation) or Clarence Thomas (who only got his SCOTUS seat because Bush 41 “needed” to fill the “Black seat” vacated by Thurgood Marshall–who can only be looking down on his beloved Supreme Court and weeping at what’s become of it).
Hypocrisy…our national religion!
Well, certainly the republicans.
If they didn’t have hypocrisy, they’d have no moral values at all.
If Trump worked for a large ad agenvy, he might have made it lower level middle manager because he’s good at coining inside and catch phrases. And there he would stay because he cannot get along with co-workers and bosses.But he is too undisciplined to act run an ad campaign and he would refuse to learn.
DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Not Education.
Of course tRump abandoned the dog whistle. He much prefers the dogtrombone!
