This is a local Nevada story that’s making national headlines because it’s so utterly bat$hit and in keeping with how the GOP has sunk to an institution completely bereft of even the most modest standards. Michele Fiore is a former Las Vegas city councilwoman. She is not liked here, so she skedaddled 65 miles into the desert to Pahrump.
This is after she lost a bid to become the next GOP governor. Then she went on the ballot as state treasurer and thank God was defeated there as well. This is not somebody you want collecting your kid’s lunch money. But now, the Associated Press tell us, she was unanimously appointed Justice of the Peace. Now Michele Fiore is less qualified for that position than I am. I at least graduated from law school. She has not even gone. And I frankly can’t wait until she does, because law school is not for the faint of heart and especially when you’re an adult and not a chipper undergrad just moving up the next notch.
But qualifications mean nothing in the GOP these days. It is phenomenal. Now if the Fiore name isn’t ringing any bells with you, take a look at her campaign ad for the governor nomination. Oh, did I mention she’s an election denier, the Nevada Kari Lake?
Las Vegas (AP) — Following years of controversy, a former Las Vegas city councilwoman who moved to a rural Nevada county after losing a bid in November for statewide office was appointed unanimously Tuesday evening to a local judgeship.
Republican firebrand Michele Fiore, who does not have a law degree, will fill a seat on the Pahrump Justice Court in Nye County through 2024. Pahrump is located about 65 miles (100 kilometers) west of Las Vegas.
Her appointment to the bench over 17 other applicants marks the latest chapter in a decade-long political career marked by scandal – including reports of an FBI probe into her campaign finances and accusations of physical assault.
Oh yes. Michele’s quite the toughy. She’s charged with getting into a fist fight at City Hall with a former political colleague, Las Vegas Councilwoman Victoria Seaman, and breaking the woman’s finger.
And Fiore is allies with Cliven Bundy. All the best people, right?
I find this completely outrageous. I knew a few lawyers in Los Angeles who got elevated to the bench and that was considered a great honor. The bench wasn’t trivialized and mocked, like it is here. The GOP strikes again. They’re not the party of Lincoln, except perhaps technically speaking. They are the party of kakistocracy, government by the most incompetent.
Well, that’s a county in Nevada to stay the hell out of. My understanding is that the County Commissioners voted to make her what us old folks would call a “Justic of the Peace” – a sort of position in between a county Sherrif that doubles as traffic court judge (and other minor offenses that are settled with fines or a couple of days in jail) and actual regular court judge. The notion of her being a JP when she advocates and excuses political violence has irony shouting “fuckit” from the grave the GOP long ago buried it in!
A Nevada Justice of the Peace without a law degree? Well, the town of Pahrump will finally be famous for something besides the HBO documentary series about KTVM, Pahrump’s privately owned local television station, and its Trump-loving CEO. They say all publicity is good publicity, don’t they?
I knew about Pahrump long before I moved to Nevada because Art Bell used to broadcast out of there. Remember the Art Bell Show in the 90’s, with all the UFOs and Big Foot and all that? As far as I know the other show, Coast to Coast, still broadcasts from there. Or maybe it doesn’t anymore.
I’ll have to look up this HBO documentary.
I hate to sound sexist or body-shaming … but for Pete’s sake! It’s pretty clear that this bimbot’s neurological tissue morphed into hypertrophied fat cells that settled into her monstrous mammarian glands – diminishing brain circulation in favor of veritable bastions of boobs.
Being a guy and an old, white one at that I realize I’m on dangerously thin ice commenting on this. However, women’s boobs get looked at and not just by guys. There is little guys can wear when it comes to regular clothing that gives an indication of the size of their “junk” but for women it’s simply a lot more difficult to hide, or greatly de-emphasize how well endowed (or not) they are. So fair or not (and it’s not) it’s one of those things women have to deal with. Some, whether less than amply endowed or more so make an effort to not draw attention to their chest size by dressing in certain ways. That’s their choice and especially for women in the workplace who want to be treated professionally I can understand why they’d make that choice.
Others make a different choice. From the averagely endowed to the more amply endowed ones some choose to if not flaunt what they’ve got then at least draw some attention to it. For the same reason many women also color their hair blonde – playing to the stereotype of “guys all dream of a “blonde & blue babe with big chalugas.” (For the record my ideal has always been black hair, and back when I had a sex life the size of a woman’s boobs didn’t matter so much as whether they were sensitive) Take a look a Fox, and note the number of “blonde & blue” women, most of whom even if conservatively dressed on set have at least average sized racks.
Then there are women with the way bigger than average breasts. I knew one who decades ago (she was related to a close friend) who in her early 20s opted for a breast reduction – she was already experiencing some of the back pain those huge (and I mean huge) breasts were causing. That many decades ago the scars were something that would be much more of a thing than refinements have made the procedure. I also had a relationship with a woman who has massive sized breasts. She didn’t have the pain problems but the could prove a tad difficult at times. However, for work she made the effort to wear outfits that couldn’t hide her endowment but at least had some ability to not instantly have people see her and have the “My god – LOOK at those things!” reaction.
I have also know and unfortunately worked with a woman with almost that big a rack and boy did she make every effort to use those “assets” to manipulate men, including and especially male co-workers. She hated me. She tried one of her tricks on me – specifically standing behind me and leaning over to run her hand across some documents on the desk, moving back and forth to rub those boobs against the back of my head and neck. I told her bluntly (and in front of another female co-worker who happened to walk in at that moment) to knock that crap off. That I didn’t appreciate her trying that kind of crap with me. If looks could kill I’d have been a pile of ashes and since the Office Manager got word around other guys caught on. Of course, it cost me eventually when she got a chance at some payback but that’s another story.
My point is that sadly, a lot of guys go brain-dead (the big-brain in their head at least) over big boobs. And some women make an effort to take advantage of it. I see that campaign ad, and can’t help but think she chose that “jacket” for a reason – to EMPHASIZE that much larger than average rack. And in other pics it seems she’s got dark roots in her hair which means she’s not a natural blonde either. So while I agree to a large extent with those who say we shouldn’t make sexist comments regarding appearance/”assets” I look at it like “Family Values” conservatives who turn out to be cheating on their spouses, or gay despite their gay bashing, etc. It’s like in court when some lawyer complains about a cross-examination then the judge reminds them THEY opened the door.
This gal literally flaunted her big boobs in the hopes male voters (and some women too) would look at them and not how unqualified she was. SHE made her physical appearance the issue. Just as, in a different way Kyrsten Sinema’s mid-life crisis and dressing/hair coloring stuff so often has her trying to look like some college “alt-gurl” opens her to ridicule.
I enjoy seeing an attractive woman. I’m not going to hide that fact. Just as women enjoy seeing attractive men, even if they tend to be rather more reticent in saying so. But when some asshat like Trump who thinks he’s god’s gift and is such a “catch/hunk” that every woman in the world lusts after his fat orange ass, or some woman with a giant rack shoves it front and center in a “check THESE out” manner then all bets are off.
Yes, she can make contributions to her retirement from her night job there in Nevada. Stripper/prostitute! I would like to know how the bottles got broke because she probably couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn standing inside.
