Oh, mercy. This is different. News has come out about her, and it’s not pretty. It could, however, explain some of her behavior. She’s been getting worse, beyond her nonsense we already knew, with the last being her behavior in an airport. She doesn’t give a damn about Congress because it’s all about her, all of the time. So join me in a little fun at her expense. Yes, we can be mean because she deserves it. With recognition to Raw Story:

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) went on air Tuesday to vehemently deny one of the most explosive allegations about her behind-the-scenes behavior published in New York Magazine this week — but one of her former staffers hit back with a blistering response. Mace, who has garnered attention over the past few years for everything from an extremely loud anti-LGBTQ campaign to allegations her former fiancé raped her and threats to show videos of her naked body in a House committee chamber to prove it, is currently running for governor of South Carolina in a crowded contest to replace outgoing Gov. Henry McMaster.

Let’s hope she loses in the primary. America does not need anyone like her in office, but at least Congress can keep her somewhat under control. We can hope her constituents finally see her for what she is. She needs help, not power, but like many people we know, she doesn’t admit she has a problem. I seem to remember someone in Congress with her was trying to arrange an intervention to get her that help. Well, if it worked, it wasn’t for very long, and that’s regretful. Just because we can’t stand the woman, and she’s great for mocking, doesn’t mean we wish her ill. We do need to be fair, here.

The article, which spoke with several people who have worked under her and fear her mental health is deteriorating, alleged among many other things that Mace has a severe drinking and cannabis problem, and ordered her congressional staffers to make liquor runs for her in violation of House rules. Mace took issue with that particular allegation on the right-wing Newsmax 2 network, not only denying it but implying she barely drinks at all. “Absolutely not,” Mace said in response to questions about whether she had her staff deliver her liquor at night. “I go to bed very early. I’m almost 50. I’m in bed by 9. No one has been over to my house after midnight … Like, these things are provably false if you looked at my security system.”

Yea no. Again, methinks the lady protests too much, and yes, I’m mangling the actual quote. She gave out far more information than she needed to. “I barely drink and go to sleep by 9” would have been fine. But all that detail? Seems like someone who is trying to backpedal on a lie that got caught. Many people have noticed multiple problems, and Nancy refuses to acknowledge them. And why in the hell would she want someone to look at security and her naked body? She screamed about that before in one of her “episodes”.

She added, “I’m not allowed to drink or consume much in the way of alcohol” because she’s had a lifelong diagnosis of hemochromatosis, or excessive blood iron, and drinking under that condition will “destroy your organs and you’ll die at an early age, and I love life.” Natalie Johnson, a former staffer for Mace, cried foul on these claims, even dropping an eyebrow-raising detail to refute Mace’s claim. “Nancy Mace claiming she doesn’t drink alcohol might be the funniest, most brazen lie she’s told to date,” said Johnson. “The woman drank so much she’d have interns or junior staff run to Congressional Liquor during the work day so she could imbibe during telephone town halls.”

That’s sad. Does she hate her life so badly that, contrary to what she claims, she drinks all the time? Gets high all the time (yes, I know it’s legal in many states)? She likely thinks nobody knows. She isn’t hiding things very well at all. Remember her airport fiasco? That’s the fourth big thing that we know of. Seeing someone destroy themselves slowly in public gives us funny stories, but y’know, it’s a bit painful, too. She’s just pitiful. I’ll behave and censor my last comment.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

    • That’s what it sounds like. It’s funny and weird at the same time. (Maybe most of Congress drinks because they can’t stand each other?)

    • You and Susan could have looked it up online yourselves, as I did, but here is AI’s answer:

      AI Overview

Yes, a congressional liquor “store” or purchasing operation has historically existed within the House of Representatives, originating around 1979 to sell alcohol for catering/official use to members, with profits offsetting cafeteria deficits The Washington Post. Recent controversies (2022) highlighted that members could use official funds for these purchases X https://x.com/AustinScottGA08/status/1525215777032482816, X.

Operation: Historically, the House bought alcohol at wholesale prices from a distributor, with sales intended for official functions, not retail consumption, noted in The Washington Post.

Controversy: In May 2022, reports emerged alleging that a “congressional liquor store” was being used, allowing members to buy alcohol with taxpayer-funded Members’ Representational Allowances (MRAs) X https://x.com/AustinScottGA08/status/1525215777032482816, X.

Note: This is distinct from private, public-facing establishments near Capitol Hill, such as “Congressional Liquors & Deli” Capitol Hill BID.
