Someone else in Trump’s administration who doesn’t know what he’s actually doing. Only Trump can be Trump: bluff, bluster, and delay. It doesn’t work well for Trump, so why would it work for Blanche? He is turning out to be worse than Bondi ever was. And of course, the DoJ is now Trump’s personal attack dog. Will it ever be able to be fixed?
Todd has been trying to play fast and loose with a judge over some Epstein files information. He always has excuses and, following Trump, has no trouble breaking his promises. Think about how far back it was that he talked with Ghislaine and then had her moved. Think about what he’s done since then. There is no Justice anymore. It’s Blanche and all the attorneys in the department. They are there only to do what they’re told. Independence is not necessarily encouraged. Obeying is. And one after another, they get thrown into the deep end, where Blanche has started something, and they have to finish with absolutely no information.
How much talent have we lost already, being forced out, or leaving on their own because the DoJ isn’t? It’s partisan. Now any lawyer can prosecute or defend, but that’s not what it’s about. It’s Trump. It’s not even Republicans. It’s Trump. What he says goes. That means against immigrants and US citizens. That means against “Antifa”, which isn’t an organization. It’s a catch-all term for people protesting against Trump (and ICE/CBP, and so on). It doesn’t *have* a specific group. But if it’s against Trump or what Trump wants, people will be prosecuted.
Todd is on the other side of one of these cases. He’s defending against the Epstein file releases. He’s trying to keep some things under wraps, probably including information on Trump, so he’s not actually cooperating with the judge’s demands. He lies. But then, he’s sure to have picked up some good hints from Ghislaine and Trump, right?
Once again, with feeling, Raw Story:
Attorney General Todd Blanche abandoned his months-long claim of compliance with an order regarding the Epstein files one day before a frustrated judge’s deadline and appealed the order instead. The notice of appeal, filed Sunday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, acknowledged that the order requiring Epstein files to be handed over to the court may not even be appealable. Senior U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan had given Blanche until August 25 to hand over Epstein-related documents.
This is the debacle where Blanche is trying to defend against a lawsuit brought by Katie Phang, claiming that not all files had been released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. So far, she’s winning, and Blanche is trying to run in place. And we *do* know that there are millions still tucked away. He’s making the judge consider a contempt-of-court ruling because of all the dancing around.
One of these days Blanche will get what’s coming to him. It could very well be in a way that Trump cannot help. If only one of these days Trump could get what’s coming to him. We won’t hold our breath. But Blanche? Maybe.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
