Yes, seriously. This is not the image that DHS should present. He’s complaining about something so small and ridiculous it’s painful. He insists Dems are undermining him. He’s whiny. Holy cow, he leads DHS? This does not bode well. It’s close to certain he is going to be worse than Noem if he’s fussing about this sort of thing. Thank you, Raw Story:
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mulling complained that “Kamikaze” Dems had sabotaged his supply of paperclips during the recent partial government shutdown.
During a Fox Business interview on Thursday, host Maria Bartiromo asked Mullin if he could insulate DHS from future shutdowns so “people are still getting paid.”
“Right, well, you said it right. They shut down businesses, too,” Mullin remarked. “How many agencies or how many departments and businesses that depend on us that contract through DHS? They hadn’t been paid since February.”
“I mean, these are people that’s providing food for us or providing the paperclips for us,” he griped. “All these had ripple effects because the Democrats’ kamikaze approach to Department of Homeland.”
Good grief. What a baby. He’s supposed to lead DHS. Really? If he’s boohooing over paperclips and Kamikaze Dems, then yes, as predicted, he will be a worse “leader”. There are many things to do at DHS, and he isn’t cutting it. We haven’t heard anything about whether or not he’s familiar with the department or not. Nothing has come out at this point.
Mullin, however, admitted that the department had the funds to withstand another government shutdown.
“We do have the ability to fund it because the president’s ability to see the importance of funding them through the One Big Beautiful Bill,” he insisted.
“We’re able to refund some of the coffers because we had been paying the payroll out of that One Big Beautiful Bill for all 22 components, which my payroll is roughly 1.6 billion every two weeks.”
The secretary also pressed Congress to pass a reconciliation bill, which includes $1 billion to fund President Donald Trump’s ballroom project.
And the one billion for the damn ballroom rears its ugly head again. The last thing we want to do is have that thing built from our taxes. Mullin tried to step away from the paperclips. Bringing up the OBBB is a mistake. That thing makes the smarter half of the get outraged by the bloat and the fact that Republicans screwed over the country with that bill.
We have another imbecile in the Trump administration. Broken people. We can hardly wait (not) to see what he does next. It’s bound to be stupid. He really doesn’t have the chops for DHS, but we’re stuck with him. It’s getting tiring to do the wait and see thing. But we can hang out with each other. And that’s something.
See you tomorrow!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
