[Folks, I’m running way, way behind. Please forgive me and stick with me for more coming up tonight.]

Stay with me here. This is good. MS NOW was covering the Pentagon’s press conference, and MS NOW had something to say about it. They knew his blathering was lies and wanted to tell the American people the truth. We know Hegseth lies because, like Trump, he lives in his own little world. Well, we went in for a visit. With gratitude to Raw Story:

During his Friday Pentagon Press conference, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fired off a collection of boasts about how well the war on Iran is going that led MS NOW host Joe Scarborough to have his producers cut the sound so he talk over the former Fox News personality for an immediate fact-check. Then he did it again, moments later after cutting back to Hegseth.

Ooooookay now, this is new and different. When a news host cuts the sound for an immediate fact check, you have to know Hegseth is spouting nonsense, and a lot of it. This seems to be the first time MS NOW has done this. How many other news stations will do this? We know that Fox News would love to keep him running off at the mouth because he was one of theirs, and they’re also just stubborn that way. But everyone else?

Midway through Hegseth’s address, his voice was silenced even though he could be seen onscreen, as the “Morning Joe” co-host jumped in to explain, “If you just tuned in, Secretary Hegseth is giving us a summary of what’s going on right now.

He accurately said that there have been great military successes and that America’s military is unmatched in the world. He inaccurately said that there’s been a clear mission objective from the very beginning. That’s just not the case.”

Clearly said he was right that for 47 years, Iranians have been targeting Americans and killing Americans. That is true,” he added. “But one of the more fascinating things we’ll talk about later is he proclaimed, Iran will not have nuclear weapons.

He said it: Iran will not have nuclear weapons. It will be fascinating to see details on that. He talked about the blockades getting more powerful by the day.

Also, Iranians are laying more mines, which could cause problems with shipping through the strait for quite some time. He also said other administrations didn’t do anything but look the other way. That’s just not true at all.”

Ooof, that’s a lot of information there. At least it’s easy to understand and the things we needed to know. But the big thing is still that MS NOW cut Hegseth’s sound because what he was saying was wrong. There’s currently no way to guarantee we’re going to be able to make sure Iran doesn’t get nukes because we don’t know where it is. Blockade powerful? Oh, brother. They are sitting out in the sea to stop ships from coming through. If they add another ship, it could increase the blockade, I suppose, but still, they’re just sitting out there in the sea trying to catch anyone who knows how to get through the Strait of Hormuz. They’re not doing anything else, like getting ready things to throw at Iran, or at least we hope so.

“So, we’ll continue following this,” he added before pointing out, “I’ve got to say, though, I’m putting a star by the fact that Pete Hegseth has said this morning, Iran will not have nuclear weapons.

So, anything short of that and short of the Strait of Hormuz being opened when this war ends will be an abject failure for this administration. If they are able to take away Iran’s nuclear weapons and open the strait, then most likely a success.”

We are likely to say it ‘ain’t’ going to happen. Not until, maybe, as long as Iran won’t come to talks. That ‘ain’t’ happening right now, either. We’re stuck in limbo. The longer this goes on, the weaker we look. The USA is no longer a strong force. We’re no longer a leader. We’re just a country that lost its war against Iran. When is this going to be over? Because it’s getting more ridiculous by the day. Why can’t we let non-USA or Iranian ships through, even if they paid a toll to get through the Strait? Iran and we are holding the damn world hostage. That makes us look like crap, too. Watch and wait. This is exhausting.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Let’s compare:

Obama’s Iran Deal: Zero Americans killed. Zero Iranians killed. Zero bombs dropped. Iran’s nuclear program frozen under international inspection. Achieved through years of multilateral diplomacy. Cost: diplomatic effort. The Strait Of Hormuz never closed at all.

Trump’s Iran Ceasefire: Approximately 15 Americans dead. Hundreds wounded. An estimated 2100+ Iranian civilians were killed. Forty-plus days of air strikes. Two carrier strike groups are effectively out of the war theatre. Every US base in the Gulf was damaged or destroyed. $45–50 billion spent. The Strait of Hormuz closed, the economic repuercussions about to lead to a worldwide recession, as well as making petrol expensive. And fertilizer. And Natural Gas. And at the end of it: Iran demanding — and getting — full sanctions relief, uranium enrichment rights, Hormuz control, US military withdrawal, and a UN resolution to lock it all in permanently.

    Another ‘win’ for Trump?
