This is getting old with all the people who are jumping on board for a lie. We all saw it. We had our responses. It doesn’t matter what anyone *says*. We know the *truth*. We know reality. Nothing is going to change that, and it shouldn’t. Enough things are kicking our country down as it is, without, once again, people trying to rewrite history. It needs to stop. House Speaker Mike Johnson described January 6 insurrectionists as “people who were just there and happened to be walking through the building” — and a White House correspondent who was present that day had a blunt response. “LIE,” wrote Brian J. Karem, the veteran journalist and former Playboy White House correspondent. “I was there. They were walking through the building, destroying property, spreading feces on the walls, stealing things, rioting, and threatening to kill the Vice President. But other than that . . .”
How in the hell *anyone*, let alone the Speaker of the House, could say that without choking on it is beyond me. Pictures and videos that show us the *truth*. It’s so hard to understand how people could say they are anything besides rioters or insurrectionists. That’s straightforward. How many times have the police officers testified? How many did we lose? Apologies. Ranting.
Johnson’s remarks surfaced through The Intellectualist, which flagged the clip and noted the claim had already been fact-checked as false. It was not the first time Johnson had minimized the events of January 6. The Speaker has repeatedly downplayed the violence of that day as Trump has worked to reframe the insurrection as a peaceful protest and pardoned the participants.
Not only was he in Congress at that time, but he was one of the 139 Republicans who voted to invalidate the actual vote count! That makes it worse. He was part of the conspiracy. But he was *there* when they had to run for cover, but still thought the election was “stollen”. That’s disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. It’s incomprehensible. Johnson and 138 others. No wonder he always pushes for supporting Trump.
Karem was among the journalists working in and around the Capitol on January 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters breached the building in an attempt to stop the certification of the 2020 election. More than 1,200 people have been charged in connection with the attack. Before Trump’s pardons, hundreds had been convicted.
And a number of them are back in jail. Yeah, pardoning all those folks, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, that was such a good idea. Especially the ones going to jail for actual sedition. There is no damn way they were patriots, no matter what bullshizzle Trump spouts. Mike Johnson insists that a huge crowd of rioters was just people visiting. No, Mikey, you’re full of it, and you’re wrong.
