I am getting seasick. Mike Pence runs to one side of the boat and then reverses and runs to the other, and it is positively unnerving. Can you decide where you are and just stay there, Mike? No? We didn’t think so. You remember, a mere two weeks ago, how Pence flip flopped going from “Trump is wrong” to legitimizing Ronna McDaniel’s “legitimate political discourse” comment, when everybody else, including Ronna’s Uncle Mitt, was disparaging it?
Now Pence is repeating the performance. Pence is speaking today to a group of Republican donors and a preview of his remarks reveals that he’s going to go against Donald Trump’s BFF, Vladimir Putin. Grab the motion sickness bags. The Hill:
Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday will rebuke those in the Republican Party who have praised Russian President Vladimir Putin in recent weeks, including most prominently former President Trump.
“There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin. There is only room for champions of freedom,” Pence will tell a gathering of Republican National Committee (RNC) donors, according to excerpts shared with The Hill.
The comments from Pence are a tacit criticism of Trump and others who have complimented Putin’s intelligence and strategy as he directed Russia to invade Ukraine without provocation.
Trump last week said on a radio show that Putin’s decision to unilaterally declare portions of eastern Ukraine as independent republics was “pretty savvy” and “genius.” Putin’s recognition of those territories. Putin’s recognition of those territories preceded a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo earlier this year also referred to Putin as a “talented statesman” with “lots of gifts.”
And Tucker Carlson, an influential Fox News host, questioned why Americans should hate Putin and described Ukraine as a country essentially managed by the U.S. government.
Let’s put that on the scorecard, shall we: We have Mike Pence taking down Trump, Pompeo and Carlson all in one fell swoop, not to mention some of the lower life forms in the GOP and we’re thinking of Madison Cawthorn, and the rest of his ilk.
Not saying Mike Pence is wrong. Au contraire. He’s right, he’s just a day late and a dollar short.
And more importantly, he’s not likely to stay fixed on this issue. Mark today’s date well, March 4, 2022 and let’s see where he is in a week. He’ll find someway to backpedal and whitewash. He’s one leopard that doesn’t change his spots.

Even my dogs don’t look at me the way Pence used to look at TFG. He can’t erase 4 yrs of being the Mango Messiah’s biggest and most stalwart apologist. The GQP really do live in an alternate reality. Someone really should tell Pence that he has no political future at all – he was a failing governor when TFG named him VP and there is absolutely nothing he could say or do now that would make him viable as a candidate for dog catcher.
The dogs do look at my husband that way, but he’s always bribing them w/ treats.
I live in Indiana, & Pence the Dense messed up so bad on a bill that would allow religious business owners to refuse to serve gays if their sex lives offend the pious gasbags & their sense of moral superiority. This bill he signed, at midnight behind closed doors, was the Religious Freedom Act. He had to walk it back when people pointed out that his sneaky way of signing a bill into law wasn’t legal or ethical. He did it like that because he’s apparently afraid of gays. After the uproar died down, he announced that he wasn’t running for reelection. He’s gonna back down on his comments about Trump & the GOP members who support Putin because he can never make a stand & stick to it. Also, he’s never gonna beat Trump if he decides to primary against him because he’s too boring, too bland, & too wishy-washy. Not to mention too homophobic & a religious zealot who will try to govern by his religious beliefs. Separation of Church & State is meaningless to him.
The First Amendment is meaningless to the entire G.Q.P. Has been at least since ronnie ramjet.
I cannot see pants trying to run for prez if only because he would become a target for every magat owning a firearm. His life would not be worth diddly-squat as he would find out in the first primary/caucus of 2024.
“You don’t ask questions with God on ur side.” Bob Dylan
Allow me to say the rude truth: Mike Pence is an uncharismatic wind sock who makes Mitt Romney look like the latter has a spine of steel. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that he is attempting to square a circle in his twin desires to a) have a political career beyond the Trump administration and b) avoid both criminal liability and the wrath of the MAGA. Fact is his career is as done as far too many folks his ex-boss set up to die.
I feel sorry for Pence, sorta. He doesn’t seem to realize how irrelevant he is. He thinks he still has political clout and a political future. Nobody wants a flip-flopper, especially not Magas. They don’t care how they’re being screwed over, as long as the one doing it does it with strength and conviction.
“Nobody wants a flip-flopper, especially not Magas.”
Oh, please. Where were you for the four years of Trump’s CONSTANT flip-flopping? Trump could say one thing at a rally in the morning (with video recorders present and rolling and in front of thousands of live people) and then take the exact opposite position at a rally that night (also with video recorders and thousands of live people) and if he got challenged by someone at the evening rally, either he’d just blame the viewers/listeners for “misunderstanding” the earlier comment or he’d blame the “fake news” media for twisting his words or taking the comment out of context. And the next morning, he’d be “firmly” back to his previous morning’s stance and play the “fake news” card if challenged on what he’d said the previous evening.
Lather, rinse, repeat. Every day of every year since 2015.
I don’t recall trump ever saying anything that was factual, intelligent, or meaningful. He may have flip flopped but it was always flipping from one disgusting statement to another equally disgusting statement. Please give an example of a statement equivalent to Pence’s most recent and a flip in the opposite direction. I don’t recall any and I’ve been so glued to politics the last four years that I can barely get anything done.
NO…I’m sorry but no. No pity, no mercy, no remorse for any of the enablers of the most criminal president in history is owed, especially to THIS stooge.
If you look really hard you can see one of those Harry Potter Invisibility Cloaks covering the weathervane he had surgically implanted in his head.
Pence still thinks he has a future in politics – but he lost it while he was governor of Indiana.
Are you saying his V.P. job was all some horrible nightmare? I mean, it’d be great if that were true and I could wake up from all this. Yeah, V.P. isn’t much but it is further along than gov of IN.
