[Well, nothing like being a day late and a dollar short. This was supposed to have been finished yesterday. It wasn’t. But when you put work into something, it’s hard to throw it away.]
Mike Johnson tries to support Trump. He tries to pass his agenda. But Trump doesn’t have the same courtesy for Johnson. Trump expects everything as his due. He doesn’t feel he owes anyone anything, including anyone who works to further his agenda. Why does Johnson keep trying? Is he following in his own footsteps forward, not thinking about anything for himself? What is the *point*? Respect to Raw Story:
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was put on the spot on Wednesday afternoon when Donald Trump abruptly cancelled a highly anticipated signing ceremony for a housing bill that Republicans were counting on to stop their slide in the polls. As workers were setting up chairs and GOP lawmakers began showing up for the signing of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, the president pulled the plug on the ceremony by writing on Truth Social, “Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency.”
99% of what Trump talks about is an “emergency”. This is not an actual emergency. Trump is trying to trip up the midterms. He wants “his” Republicans to fall back in line and get things done for him. Bit of a problem with that. Republicans are breaking away. We are getting more than hints that they are tired of Trump’s shizzle. They’re tired of him dragging them down. Hell, we are tired of him dragging us down, too! The president of America can be slanted towards one party or the other, or they can try to balance. Trump wants to shove everyone down. Do it to them before it happens to him.
Despite the bill passing in his chamber with a stunning bipartisan vote of 358-32, Johnson attempted to blow off concerns when confronted by MS NOW’s Mychael Schnell as he tried to race past her. “Just a few minutes ago, I walked through Statuary Hall, which is where the signing ceremony was set to take place. There is a stage set, there are chairs there with names of elected officials and their seats that they’re supposed to sit in, so this was all ready to go,” she told host Antonia Hylton. “And then, once again, President Trump cut the ground from under Republicans’ legs, and this is now no longer happening — particularly a shock because this was a bipartisan bill that passed with widespread majorities up here on Capitol Hill,” she added.
Trump doesn’t give up, does he? Elections were still ‘stollen’. An insurrection was just a bunch of people wandering through. His name should be on the Kennedy Center, and he is going to gut and redo the inside of it. He needs a bunker with all sorts of excessive crap under his 999-person ballroom, which is going to be bigger than the White House. Where is he going to park all of those people? He needs a victory arch of some ridiculous height. All in the name of Trump, which you know means butt-ugly.
“I caught up with Speaker Mike Johnson in the hallway just a few minutes ago, and I asked him why is President Trump once again blindsiding Republicans? He, though, didn’t see it that way,” she stated before the clip ran. Asked about Trump “blindsiding,” party members, Johnson replied without breaking stride, “I wouldn’t call it a blindside. He has been saying consistently for months that the Save America Act is a top priority. And I convinced him that I thought that housing is a priority and a legitimate policy. I need to go through with him the policies and the changes we made on the original Senate bill.” “But this is on hold,” Schnell pointed out. “I think it will delay the signing for a bit,” Johnson replied.
A bit. A BIT??!! Johnson needs to give up. Johnson just wasted time in the House, and Thune wasted time in the Senate if Trump won’t sign the damn bill until he rigs midterms. Congress wasted time and a lot of hard work if Trump is going to be a dick. Trump is gonna do what Trump is gonna do. So how do we get the damn thing passed?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

I don’t know how Johnson can stand himself. Does he lay awake at night thinking he’s done righteous work, or does he feel sick to his stomach?
A new take on LBJ = Loosing Battle Johnson, perhaps.
The kicker is, he doesn’t need to sign the bill. If he doesn’t veto it, it becomes law. Shh-nobody tell him. It would be amazing if he did veto it, and congress overrode the veto. That may be a pipe dream of mine.
