Wow, ICE and CBP continue to escalate, and there doesn’t seem to be *any* control, both over them as well as in them. If they don’t look white, they’ll grab them. Illegal immigrant, protected immigrant, or US citizen? It doesn’t matter. They are drunk, glorying in their power and its abuse. ICE is protected. Much of the country is not safe. When the hell will this stop? From The Associated Press via Raw Story:
A college student heading home for the holidays was instead picked up by immigration authorities and deported to Honduras despite a court order specifying she couldn’t be sent there, her attorney said. Any Lucia Lopez Belloza, a 19-year-old freshman at Babson College, made it through security at Boston Logan International Airport on Nov. 20 when she was informed of an issue with her boarding pass, her attorney, Todd Pomerleau, said, according to The Associated Press. She was detained by immigration authorities and subsequently shipped to Texas, before being sent to Honduras, a country she left at just 7 years old. “She’s absolutely heartbroken,” Pomerleau told the outlet. “Her college dream has just been shattered.”
That’s unimaginable. Her college dream, gone. Her family is here. Gone. Detained at the airport, then sent to Texas and back to a place she wasn’t supposed to be. She was neither violent nor a gang member. She was a college student! That doesn’t matter. Any piddling excuse that authorities can find will do to be able to kick someone out. And this all really got started with the CECOT deportees.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said a judge ordered her to be deported 10 years ago, though the student said she never knew of such an order. Additionally, a judge banned the government from taking her out of Massachusetts for at least three days after her arrest, according to the report. Lopez Belloza is now staying with her grandparents in Honduras. “That was my dream,” she told The Boston Globe. “I’m losing everything.”
Over and over again, the abuse of immigrants. And what is happening that does NOT make the news? That’s unnerving to think about. How many people have died while in custody? How many people have died in whatever hellhole they were flown to? And how in the hell can we help? There’s so much that’s unknown.
The case highlights the complex and often challenging landscape of immigration enforcement in the United States, where young immigrants can face sudden and unexpected deportation despite having established lives in the country. ICE under President Donald Trump has implemented strict deportation policies. More than 200 judges in hundreds of cases have rejected the Trump administration’s attempts to lock up immigrants facing possible deportation — and they’re getting sick of hearing challenges to those illegal efforts.
Gee, ya think? There is so much that’s blatantly illegal, from beating up people in the street to abusing them in detention camps, and then sending them off to die. No wonder judges are sick of it. No wonder they’re slapping ICE and CBP around. Of course, most of SCOTUS will keep their lips firmly glued to Trump’s ass and won’t *DO ANYTHING*. Are they really that oblivious to what’s going on? Or is it just willful blindness since they gave him absolute immunity? People’s lives are being wrecked, and They. Don’t. Care. So, the abuse will continue.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
