Many a conservative politician has learned the hard way that ‘imitating’ Trump, or worse trying to be ‘Trumpier than Trump’ eventually leads to disaster. It looks like we might have a media variation of that. Jake Tapper has been hawking his anti-Joe Biden screed (along with co-author Alex Thompson) and convinced CNN to go all-in with him. It is he pronounced at one point “HIS network.” Well, maybe there’s still a little bit of justice left in the universe because it seems Tapper’s and CNN’s ratings are going down. Like as in flushed down Trump’s fake gold toilet!
Waking up and scanning the online news I came across this article from The Mirror US that warmed my heart. The article starts with describing the extensive promotion of the Tapper (and Thompson) book Original Sin by CNN, wryly noting it hasn’t turned into a ratings boost. In fact the opposite has happened. Tapper’s ratings are down 25% over this time a year ago! The headline of the linked article states CNN’s ratings have ‘plummeted’ to the lowest point in a decade. For me that was more than enough reason to read what they had to say.
The Mirror article has additional stats and it’s worth the couple of minutes (really, it’s a short and concise article) to read. Things aren’t look so good for CNN these days as they are trailing everyone else and by more than a little bit. After detailing CNN vs. other news networks and how far behind they fell during what for them was not the ‘Merry Month of May’ (thinking of the song from the musical Camelot) the article says this:
His show is feeling the pinch in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age bracket, with just 95,000 viewers from April 28 through May 25, marking a 15% plunge from last year.
CNN itself isn’t immune to the trend, experiencing its second-most dismal month ever for the prized demographic throughout May, spanning both total day and primetime coverage.
So Tapper is down 25% overall and 15% in the most coveted (for advertising dollars) demographic. And May was their second lowest month ever! I’ll be honest, the ‘gentle giant’ I was considered by everyone to be prior to 2016 (the rise of Trump) is pretty much gone. I am now someone who derives satisfaction from the suffering of those who deserve it. Anyone who follows my writing knows the contempt in which I hold those (including fellow Democrats) who chose to attack, and worse pile on Joe Biden. So if CNN and Tapper in particular is experiencing suffering I’ll derive enjoyment from them feeling it!
Tapper got all butt-hurt when he felt he got ‘frozen out’ by Biden’s communications team. I’ve written about it, and how easy it was for him to go around and gather off-the-record anecdotes from people who just might have also been butt hurt, and/or who had personal agendas to pursue or axes to grind. Given his platform he figured he could get some ‘payback’ and make some serious money in the process. Well, he got his book advance money I guess, and likely a decent amount from pre-release sales of his book that’s not fit to use as toilet paper. He sure as hell was smug and self-righteous in a lengthy segment I saw on Morning Joe. I rather doubt he’s so puffed up now…
It looks like Tapper and his P.O.S. network (I lost almost all respect for them back in 2008) will suffer long term (financial) consequences after all. Good! I want to emphasize another point. With the promotion blitz for the book well underway the news about Biden’s prostate cancer came out. Did Tapper (and Thomson) and CNN show even a little class and tone down their ‘kick Biden when he’s down’ strategy? Hell no – they not only kept kicking and stomping on him they went after him harder!
Well, like I said Trump gets away with that kind of bullshit because his MAGAs love it. However as I’ve said his ability to usually not only get away with it but get a boost is unique to him. Other’s have gotten at best a temporary lift from being all ‘Trumpy’ but eventually political gravity catches up to them. CNN’s viewers aren’t hard core MAGAs. Many of them it seems still feel a sense of fairness, and compassion. To me at least it’s clear they do NOT like Tapper’s book and CNN’s hawking of it. So they’ve gone elsewhere to get their news.
I don’t know about you but that brings a smile to my face. As the sun rose outside I found myself looking forward to today. So I say Thank You to The Mirror for getting my day off with a whole bunch of warm fuzzies! Jake the Sleazy Snake can suck it!

Erm. I actually like CNN. Well, online CNN. They’ve given me some great topics.
But once I heard about Jake Tapper’s “book”, I detested him even more than I did originally. I hope sales go down the (not gold plated) toilet and it goes into clearance sale prices (very much) sooner rather than later – as in it can’t be soon enough! I really like Biden and have supported him since he ran for president back in 2020. I *still* support him. I *still* like and ADMIRE him!
Tapper’s allegations (I don’t consider them to be facts) and the BULLSHIT he is trying to sell absolutely *infuriates* me. I’ve been debating blowing his hair back with an email, but I don’t want to even give him that much. I wonder how many people it would take, screaming to CNN, to get him knocked off the show. He can go take a running leap and f*ck himself sideways. He deserves to be crucified. In this case, it would be nice, if we still did that nastiness, to get him on one. UGH!!!!!!
Oh please. Like every other topic you lefties are late to the party. Tapper and CNN have been hot garbage for a long time but you only dislike him now because he’s published that feeble attempt to cover his ass of a book saying what we’ve known for a long time now. That biden is not and was not fit to be president. NO SHIT!
I do find it amusing how tapper has managed to piss off the left AND the normal people too.
Mark, go read and digest the economic figures for Biden’s presidency and then allow your poor befuddled brain to do the math. Whether or not you “like” a president is meaningless. It’s his performance in office that counts and on that, Biden comes out smelling very rose-like, as opposed to the shithouse stink from Trump. Tapper’s just another empty talking head and will fade from view soon enough.
