This has been mentioned in previous columns a few times. We now have more details and even more reasons to detest the moronic bully-boy THUGS of ICE. No one is safe. They don’t listen. They just abuse whoever they have in their clutches. We’re all tired of ICE’s crap. But until someone cracks down on their behavior, they’re not going to stop. Gnome is getting those body cameras for them, but we know damn well they’ll either be ‘forgotten’ or left off during arrests. With gratitude to Raw Story:
A woman who was recently released from custody by immigration agents described the horrifying way she was treated during a stop last month – one she said exacerbated her disabilities – and the terrible conditions inside the Minneapolis-area ICE facility. Aliyah Rahman, a South Minneapolis resident with a traumatic brain injury who needs a wheelchair for mobility, told lawmakers during a Congressional forum on Tuesday that she was stopped by ICE agents while on her way to a doctor’s appointment.
She said agents violently arrested her, including threatening multiple times to “break her f—— window” when she did not immediately comply out of shock, and slashing her seat belt with what appeared to be a hunting knife. She said they also dragged her by her arms, face down, from her car to an ICE vehicle, even while she was screaming at them about suffering from disabilities.
Yup, thugs. She’s effing *disabled* and they wouldn’t listen to her. Just dragged her to an ICE vehicle. They likely thought she looked foreign, so it didn’t matter how they treated her. It didn’t matter what she said. It didn’t matter if they hurt her. She didn’t matter except as part of a quota.
“I now cannot lift my arms normally,” Rahman said. She claimed the agents never read her rights, and the Trump administration never charged her with a crime. The conditions she witnessed inside the Minneapolis-area ICE facility were even more concerning, Rahman said. Outside of the center, she saw hordes of “black and brown bodies” being mushed along by screaming federal agents. “I continued to hear the word bodies, because that is how agents referred to us,” Rahman said. “You have no reason to think you will make it out alive if you are already being called a body,” she added.
She definitely got that right. When you’re not a person, you’re a ‘body’, then no, there isn’t a reason to think you’ll make it out alive. Psychological torture and verbal abuse to crush them down even further is something we haven’t heard much about until today. Her testimony on that is certainly an eye-opener. We knew about the curses when ‘arresting’ someone, but they continue even after someone is stuffed into a vehicle. They continue in the facility. It all just continues.
She said the agents inside the facility taunted her for asking for a wheelchair, with one of them saying, “You were driving, right? So your legs do work.” She added that she was denied medical care, and before she passed out from her injuries, she heard a voice outside of her cell door saying they couldn’t help because they “didn’t want to step on ICE’s toes.”
She said she was later treated for assault at the Hennepin County Medical Center. Rahman shared her testimony at a time when Trump’s immigration regime is facing significant scrutiny. Agents in Minneapolis killed two American citizens protesting ICE raids, and shot nearly a dozen more, according to reports. Their actions have renewed calls for several Trump administration officials to either resign or be fired.
Well, they won’t and they won’t. Resign? Give up the job and the power? Yea no. Fired? Trump never admits he’s wrong. Now the ‘border czar’ is in Minneapolis instead of Bozo-ino. He said that 700 agents were being pulled out of the state. That still leaves 2300. That’s still far too many. And in the meantime, the abuse continues.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

During the statement, announcing the body cameras, it was said they are the Minneapolis operation. What about the rest of the country?
Oh, damn. I thought it was for Minnesota at least. I’m second-guessing myself these days about whether or not my columns are worth reading. All you folks keep giving me things I didn’t know, and it’s, well, embarrassing.
