New York Attorney General Letitia James had her day in court today, and she made the most of it. You may recall that James has subpoenaed Trump, Don Jr., and Ivanka to provide documents and sit for depositions in her civil suit investigation of the trump organization.
Trump’s lawyers filed a lawsuit to block the subpoenas, but being Trombies, they argued two completely disparate points. The first was that comments James made in her campaign for AG showed an implicit bias against Trump, and that this was a politically motivated investigation, and Trump was being railroaded. Then they turned around and argued that even if Trump could be deposed, it shouldn’t happen at a time when the Manhattan DA’s office was conducting a lateral criminal into trump, which would allow the DA’s office to use Trump’s civil deposition to possibly incriminate him in the criminal case.
Well, the judge just ruled on the motion, and it’s double barrel birds for Trump and his kidlets. The judge noted that Trump could always do what his son Eric did, avail himself of his 5th Amendment privileges to questions, which Eric did more than 500 times. The Unholy Triumvirate has 14 days to turn over the documents, and 21 days to sit for their depositions. Trump can and likely will appeal the ruling, but MSNBC legal analyst Danny Ceballos said that while a jude may take the case, he finds it highly unlikely that he would put a stay on the order, forcing the Trump’s to comply.
This is a walking nightmare for Trump for two reasons. First, it is almost literally impossible for Trump to tell the truth, yet he is such an arrogant blowhard that taking the 5th would be incredibly difficult for him. He is going to try to bullshit his way out of it. And second, while the Manhattan DA cannot use Trump’s use of the 5th Amendment against him in any criminal proceeding, AG James can use his invoking of the 5th Amendment in any civil trial. To the point where she can tell the jury exactly how many times Trump invoked his privilege, and even reading into the record the exact questions she asked that evoked that response. Used properly, that tactic can be more damaging to a defendant than just taking the hit and answering the damn question.
The gears of justice grind slowly, but grind on they do. And it is finally starting to appear that after almost a half a century, they’re about to grind all over His Lowness and his crime cartel. Don’t touch that dial.

I once sat for a 6 hour deposition where every breath is recorded. I won my case & had the support of paperwork to do so. Yet, it was stressful to be grilled by opposing counsel constantly reframing questions hoping for a slip up. These pampered pups aren’t going to enjoy it no matter what they try to do. Plus they are guilty as hell. Hey donny. Want some advice? Have a coronary & save the scope up ur proverbial ass. Do the nation a fucking favor.
I did worse…lol I was once on a freakin’ dental malpractice jury, and more than half of the freakin’ testimony was expert testimony by deposition…Jesus, talk about MEGO!!! My Eyes Glaze Over

Yes…And he also said that only rats and mobsters plead the 5th. Once again, hoist on his own petard…lol
I suspect he’s going to be pleading the 5th a *lot*, along with his kids.
Don’t forget that Trump repeatedly made a “YUGE” deal about how he still had a “very fine brain” having passed his cognitive test. It’s basic, but you’d think he’d won some MENSA competition. And remember the whole five words thing? He was soooooooo proud.
Yet if as I suspect he conducts himself as he’s done in previous depositions he won’t remember jack shit. If I were the one deposing him I’d bring my checkbook and happily write out the fine a judge might impose for mocking Trump over the whole five words thing after five “I don’t recall” responses! And then telling the media and when Trump denies it challenging him to allow release of the video of that portion of the deposition.
