History doesn’t repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme   Will Rodgers

This just came to me in a flash, which believe it or not, is where some of my best stuff comes from. My subliminal kicks in, and for no good reason fires a synapse in my brain that allows me to find a common link in what appears to be two totally disconnected things.

Richard Nixon was Trump without the persona, but with the innate political and criminal skills to make him incredibly dangerous. His base loved him for his no bullsh*t, unbending law-amd-order persona. He had an enemies list of people who crossed him, used the FBI and IRS to harass them, had a slush fund called Creep, the Committee to Reelect the President, and spent it lavishly to hound his opponents. He bugged his own Oval Office, and ended up drunkenly wandering the White House halls with a botte of bourbon, muttering to the portraits of past Presidents.

Nobody ever saw it coming. It began with a gratuitous, totally unnecessary CRP funded break in of the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist. Ellsberg was the analyst who leaked the infamous Pentagon Papers to the New York Times, showing that even Nixon’s own Pentagon thought that the war was unwinnable. Nixon wanted Ellsberg’s ass.

This led to a period of civil unrest unknown in this country since the Civil War, and when Nixon’s own duplicity and illegality was finally exposed, led his own most senior GOP supporters in the US Senate to take the long eight block walk to the White House to tell him that the gig was finally up. He would be impeached in the House, and if it came to a vote in the Senate, he would be convicted.

Exit 1973 and flash forward to 2025. Trump is no Nixon. Nixon was a consumate politician with a twisted brain proficient at getting his way. Trump is a semi coherent buffoon who who can’t string two coherent sentences together. But while Nixon’s antics cost him the support of the GOP Senators he desperately needed to stay in power, in Trump’s case it is the loss of his most ardent supporters that could spell his doom.

Because Trump is the embodiment of MAGA, and MAGA is the coin of the realm of the current iteration of the GOP. And while Trump may be toast in 2028, the MAGA base is what drives the GOP, and incumbent Senators and congressman are greatly susceptible to pressure from that base. And that starts right now, leading up to the 2026 midterm elections.

But Trump has hoist himself on his own petard on this totally self fabricated Jeffrey Epstein issue. As I stated earlier today, the vast majority of Americans were ready to scrape Jeffrey Epstein off their mental psyche like dog sh*t from the bottom of their shoe when the scumbag was discovered hanging in his cell in federal lockup. But because Trump himself was implicated at the time of the indictments, run by his own Justice Department with Tubby the Ewok in charge, this became a matter of honor for him. And as such, he swore a mighty oath in his reelection campaign that if he were reelected, he would expose the entire saga. And his rabid base is expecting nothing less.

Which is now a major problem for Tump. It turns out that the investigation was the usual, professionally run drill by the FBI, naming names and showing proof. And even not counting Trump, there is likely evidence, much of it concrete that implicates people above Trump in the power circle of this country, and they are hell-dent-for-leather to keep their names out of this. And they’ll pressure Trump.

It has turned into a nightmare circus. After promising full disclosure, and after weeks of stumbling and fumbling from his hand picked DOJ and FBI, Trump decreed today that no further disclosures from the Epstein files were forthcoming, and that everybody should get over it. Meanwhile, Epstein’s accomplice and lover, Ghislaine Maxwell is screaming that she’d love to appear before any and all congressional committees to set the record straight. This is the last thing that Trump wants right now, but the very thing that his rabid base wants the most. To get to the bottom of this thing. and make it public.

Trump is in the hurt locker, but it’s even worse for his MAGA majority. Trump isn’t on the ballot in 2026, but his brainless sycophants are, and as they’ve shown in town halls in the past, shown sufficiently riled up, they are not shy about issuing threats to get what they want. And what they want is answers about this whole Epstein conspiracy.

Look, forget about Trump. He’s already a lame duck, and basically untouchable because he won’t be on the ticket in 2028. But his minions are going to be on the ballot in 2026 and 2028, and they’re the ones that all of the MAGA pressure is going to be on to get to the bottom of this, with congressional hearings if necessary. I heard today on MSNBC that there are growing rumblings in MAGA Nation about having 9/11 hearings to get to the bottom of this. If that grows, this thing could blow wide open.

The House outlook for 2026 is already dismal, and the GOP is already circling the wagons to try to stop the Senate from flipping in 2026. Trump is already toast, he can’t run again. But if the pressure continues to build, then sitting imcumbent House and Senate members are at grave risk from this scandal. And if the pressure builds, and their seats are at risk, then we’ll find out just how loyal these GOP MAGAt’s are. Don’t toiuch that dial.

I thank you for the privilege of your time.

  1. If there were any true justice in the world, Richard Nixon would be in the belly of a hammerhead shark headed south of Easter Island. Hunter S Thompson
We could use a school of them at this point.

  2. There is one thing good about Richard Nixon. Otherwise, he is indeed crap. He got us out of the Vietnam War. Otherwise, there is nothing good to say about him.

If there were justice in this world, tRump would be forced out of office. But there isn’t. We have to hope he will hang himself with his own words and deeds. In the meantime, we will watch and wait.

  3. My, how times have changed. Nixon, like any good crook, attempted to conceal his criminal behavior. But once exposed, he was a goner. Fast forward 50 or so years, and the openly criminal behavior of a president is just another day ending in Y. Meh!
