Is this a surprise or a “what took them so long”? We can’t understand the thinking of anyone who works for Trump. He’s petulant, grandiose, a grifter, a narcissist, a bloviating orange buffoon. We could even stretch as far as megalomaniac and devoid of mental conscience. A special mindset is needed to work with him. And if you’re female, sock away as much cash as you can because you will eventually be fired, as he’s already shown. But the biggest thing right now is his behavior. President Donald Trump’s inner circle has started to splinter as concerns grow over the commander-in-chief’s behavior ahead of the midterms, insiders revealed on Friday. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was the latest to announce her departure this week, and three other officials have exited this summer, with more expected to depart, according to The Daily Beast. ” Trump has also ignored concerns about his health and obstinately refused to stay on message during the crucial run-up to the midterm elections,” The Beast reported.
Could this be rats abandoning a sinking ship? Or would it be outlaws jumping off the train? He’s going downhill, visibly, mentally, and in the polls, even among Republicans. MAGA is a different story, but it always has been. Republicans in Congress are already stressed, and Trump definitely is not helping with that. It’s almost as if he’s turning on his loyal acolytes. Okay, maybe not acolytes. His loyal subjects? Congressional Republicans are being reminded of ETTD. It’s happening to them, and in a normal world, it would be different. But right now, this is Trump world, and he’s using them as doormats. Most of them have no one to blame but themselves. Even some of the ones who were primaried talked a grand game and fell right back in line.
“The fear in the West Wing is that administration staff will be vulnerable if the wheels come off in the administration with a massive defeat in November and a lame-duck president,” according to The Beast.
Trump used to be fighting against the “lame-duck” moniker. He hasn’t seemed quite so avid about knocking that down because he has more going on with the Iran war as opposed to anything in America, except for trying to start tariffs up again. The original tariffs were what started the downslide of the American people, with the increases in inflation and food prices; almost all prices, now including gas, are heading up. We don’t know if anything will come back down. At this point, it seems unlikely.
How could administration staff be concerned if, no, *when* Democrats take over Congress? Is it not the President who picks his own staff?
We need to be concerned with midterms. Todd Blanche has stated that the DoJ is there to take care of problems for Trump. That means there is going to be a whole lot more legal trouble. However, thus far we’ve had some very good judges who believe in the letter *and* spirit of the law. There are still good lawyers out there. But what is Blanche going to do to try to cause problems for the midterms? What is Trump trying to do? There have been hints here and there that Trump is up to something, but then, when is he *not* up to something?
Midterms are generally a switching of places for whichever party did not win the presidency. That being said, it does favor Democrats this year. The general situation is promising, especially with the people experiencing buyer’s remorse with Trump. But there are serious discussions coming to light about having ICE at polling places. We need to get everyone to be able to cast their votes, and polling places are already starting training. There’s a lot to be done. Let’s do this.
