Holy Cancel Culture, Batman! I’ll bet this was comical. Herschel Walker was scheduled to speak at an event that Lady Marjorie is having this weekend to celebrate the Second Amendment and maybe show off her guns, perhaps blow up a Prius or two. Walker had second thoughts. Could it be that the optics of a black man siding with a white supremacist were considered a little too spicy for the campaign’s tastes? Could be. Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Walker had planned to speak at Greene’s “Second Amendment and Freedom Rally” in Rome on Saturday alongside U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, strategist Stephen Bannon and other far right figures.
But his campaign told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday that he will no longer participate in the rally, which was to promote a gun rights expansion in Georgia. His campaign spokeswoman offered no additional comment.
Other Republicans, including former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, said they still plan to attend.
Walker’s decision is just the latest sign that Republicans in Georgia and across the nation are distancing themselves from Greene, who has a long history of hateful, xenophobic and anti-Semitic remarks, along with social media posts endorsing violence against political opponents.
David Perdue is staying on board with Greene and he’s the Lone Ranger on that score right now. Georgia Republicans are turning against her, and high time.
In the Georgia Senate, several GOP politicians joined the chorus condemning Greene. State Sen. Russ Goodman said it was “unfathomable” to hear Americans celebrate Russia’s invasion of a U.S. ally. And Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan drew bipartisan applause for his response.
“Vladimir Putin is a selfish, brutal dictator and anybody who would tell you otherwise is lying,” he said. “I call on this country, I call on this state, I call on this chamber to stand in support of the Ukrainian country as they fight for freedom.”
Not all senior Georgia Republicans have taken this stance. Perdue, who is challenging Gov. Brian Kemp, said through a spokesman that he would attend to highlight the “need to protect the Second Amendment and expand our God-given right to bear arms.”
“Given the invasion in Ukraine, we see the need to protect it now more than ever,” said Jenni Sweat, the spokeswoman.
That’s a stark contrast from Walker’s top Republican rival, Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, who said in an interview that Greene should be treated as a pariah.
“Her ideas, her associations and her utter lack of wisdom and judgment are a poison in the bloodstream of our party,” said Black. “I believe this behavior is a distraction and an embarrassment.”
Greene is exactly that, a distraction and an embarrassment. Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Walker is leading his GOP rivals in the polls. What say you on this new stance of his?
- He decided to become a RINO?
- He decided that he’s still a right-wing, Trump loving candidate but Greene is crazy?
- He’s got a campaign manager who knows it would be sheer death to have Walker up there talking about race, which is likely to happen if he appears with Marge?
- All of the above.
This is a stone in the pond that is going to make some waves. Keep a look out for how that develops.

‘God-given right to bear arms’?????
Exactly where and when did God say people had the right to run round in possession of a small arsenal of high power weapons? I don’t recall anything in the Bible that says that
I wondered if it was in the N.T. It sure as shit isn’t in Torah (although we are allowed to get stoned: lmao).
Seriously tho’, that whole crew at their little hootenanny is a toxic mix of stupidity at best and absolute evil…I would say at worst but they’re already well past that. This clown car of rectums called the modern day ‘pube party needs to crash into a stone wall at a high rate of speed.
Cuz it’s the opposite message. “Thou shall not kill” fuck that commandment. “love ur enemies” fuck that rabbi. The second greatest commandment according to Jesus, “love ur neighbor as urself”. Fuck him. Right evangelicals. Screw that pacifist.
I believe it’s the exact opposite. They have it in their top ten list something about not killing.
I don’t believe guns have any other purpose besides killing so…
Unfortunately the correct translation is ‘You shall not commit murder’ which isn’t quite the same as ‘you shall not kill’.
But in that list there is ‘don’t commit adultery’, ‘don’t bear false witness’, ‘don’t steal’, ‘don’t covet’ and no making gilded idols. I could go on with an even longer list of ‘don’ts’ – no pork, no shellfish, no snakes, (it seems offering virgin daughters for hang rape and incest are acceptable, according to Lot anyway). Also, when was the last time anyone offered up a burnt offering in sacrifice?
But, let’s face it – the even jellies think God talks to them and tells them “Just ignore what was said and interpret it whatever way you want” (they also believe that God is a white European with a long beard who only speaks 16th Century English)
Unfortunately our culture has no reverence for questioning, historical research or context of anything. I majored in Religion. I studied under true scholars. The Bible is a complex collection of texts. They tell stories that came down through many cultures, languages & political systems. There are verifiable things recorded & there are mysteries. There are many things we’ll never know. Most of the texts have unknown authors. Some borrowed from things left out like the Q sayings of Jesus. Funny how our culture has made ‘experts’ out of ignorant people who think they can speak with authority without any knowledge at all. We don’t allow that with many fields of study. If I pick up a medical textbook it doesn’t make me a doctor. Yet, we have elevated the word ‘faith’ to mean I can speak with authority cuz I believe. Hogwash. 1500 years ago everyone believed the earth was flat. 500 years ago it was a ‘fact’ that we were the center of the universe. Most people can’t even intelligently explain where we are or how vast the distances are in the ‘known’ universe. It is measured by the speed of light, which most don’t know. They will insist they ‘know’ ‘God’. I’m still curious how all these conversations are known in the texts when only Moses & ‘God’ were on the mountain. Jesus was reportedly alone in the desert with the devil. No stenographer. Then there’s misinterpretations all the time. One used all the time to justify following the law is “render unto caesar what is ceasar’s”. My question is what was Caesar’s? Everything he had he obtained through murder, plunder, & conquest. Maybe Jesus was being sarcastic noting caesar really had nothing legitimately so don’t give him a damn thing. I find it supremely ironic that people are so fervent about their ignorance. Fervent doesn’t equal truth. The 40,000 nazis at the Nuremberg rallies were as fervent as it gets. The Bible is full of the mystery of ‘God’ & stories that ring true because we know how people are. It’s too easy to discount without really studying it. We don’t really have a Judeo-Christian culture. It’s all fake because the bulk of believers don’t even know much about the origin of their beliefs & are too lazy & fragile to find out. Next time someone tells u they ‘know’ Jesus, ask them “do u know everything about ur spouse, friend, etc.” Of course not. So how have u got all the answers on someone who reportedly lived 2000+ years ago & nothing was written down about him for at least 80 years??? Duh.
