The man really needs to keep his mouth shut unless he has actual data, not something out of thin air. He is becoming so much like Trump that it’s a little disturbing. Well, more like a medium to big disturbance. Petey Boy gets schooled. And yes, it is another Petey Boy performance. Appreciation for Raw Story:

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth raised eyebrows in Tuesday morning’s press briefing on the war in Iran.

The Pentagon chief told reporters the effort to guide commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz was temporary and “separate and distinct” from the ongoing Operation Epic Fury, and Hegseth said the U.S. intended to hand over the responsibility for the waterway to other countries – which critics thought sounded like terms of surrender.

Terms of surrender. Could it be? Could we finally be getting out of there? Nope. We know Hegseth and Trump. They’ll find some way to stick around and waste time. And supplies. Also, separate and distinct. This does not mean we are getting out of the war. No, Operation Epic Fury is apparently still going on.

They just told other countries to come get their ships. He has no idea how far away some of those countries are. Let’s throw out to Denmark, because you folks have seen that on a map. They have to get all the way down to the Middle East. That’s not a jaunt of a few days. No, it’s weeks. They have to wait even longer for what’s so desperately needed.

Something just occurred to me, and it took far too long to show up. Remember, Putin was setting up vehicles and missiles and so forth, when they were getting ready to declare war on Ukraine? That’s exactly what we did with the Navy before we, and Israel, declared war on Iran. That’s … unnerving, to say the least. Anyhow, time for some fun!

“Pete Hegseth announces we are about to surrender,” said Bluesky user Torquemada’s Kat.

“Hegseth admitting they broke something really, really important and have absolutely no plans to fix it,” opined popular Bluesky user Wendy the Woke..

“Is that why we attacked them first?” asked popular Bluesky user Philo of Alexan.

A whopper of a lie. Putinesque,” snarled author and columnist David Rothkopf.

Others expressed doubts about the distinction between Operation Epic Fury and Project Freedom.

Words have no meaning anymore,” marveled Zeteo’s Justin Baragona.

“Hegseth is such a ridiculous person,” sighed Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg.

“Two US-flagged commercial ships made through the Strait of Hormuz with two US destroyers, multiple combat helicopters, and thousands of personnel shooting projectiles and attack boats,” posted Nicholas Grossman, an international relations professor at University of Illinois. “I don’t think that’s what shipping and insurance companies had in mind by safe passage with profit worth the risk.”

Yea no. It’s definitely not what they had in mind. Other comments hit just as hard. No plans to fix it. Putinesque. Words have no meaning. He just comes out and tells us his version of “Trump’s word salad,” which means talking around in circles instead of giving actual facts. Oh, wait, of course you know what that means. It sounds good, but it means nothing.

Petey Boy (and Trump) have no idea how to get out of this war we started without looking like complete idiots. Too late. They already are. Stepping back on the escort through the Strait promise just makes us look worse. Iran isn’t negotiating anymore. We should give it up. But the people who give the orders won’t.

Iran says no ships made it through. Which is it?

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Wow! After billions spent, we’re finally back to nearly having the Strait of Hormuz open again.

    Nearly?

The whole strait was completely open for unconstrained passage before Israel and it’s sidekick, the USA, decided to attack Iran despite, oh, 60 years of warnings about what Iran would do if attacked.

So they’re trying to claim ‘victory’ when we haven’t even regained the status quo back yet?

And as a side effect, they’ve wrecked the WORLD economy and made gas unaffordable?

    Winning, Trump style.

The good news, electric vehicles and renewable energy are now waayyyy more attractive.

Is that what their fossil fuel backers really wanted?

Too bad, it’s what they got.
