This is shaping up to be quite the race in the special election in Tennessee. And, as usual, someone is blowing things out of proportion. He’s making things worse, not better. He’s not helpful. He’s hurting the Republican and refuses to acknowledge that he is no longer the Great and Powerful Oz … er, Trump. From Raw Story, which has been very helpful lately:

President Donald Trump spent the Thanksgiving holiday weekend trying to boost Republican turnout in a surprisingly close special election in Tennessee, and a White House reporter marveled at his attacks on the Democratic contender. The president hyped GOP candidate Matt Van Epps in Tennessee’s seventh congressional district race, where Democratic state Rep. Aftyn Behn is polling much closer than expected in a district Trump won convincingly in each of his three campaigns. USA Today correspondent Francesca Chambers highlighted one of his Truth Social posts.

Trump is just flinging his usual cowflops and hoping they stick. He emulates a monkey so well, doesn’t he? His support is doing more harm than good, as we saw in early November. All Democrats are on a roll, and it’s going to continue. Trump is fading more every day. Everyone is noticing, and that includes Republicans. It’s more likely they want him to shut up with his support that isn’t working. Unless someone takes his phone away, it’s going to continue. This “man” is an imbecile.

“It’s not every day that you see the president of the United States attack someone as hating country music as a reason not to vote for them,” Chambers told “CNN This Morning.” “No, that’s what he said in his post – yes, yes. One of the things was, it was that she didn’t like country music, which in Nashville is something that can really [hurt] you, honestly.” “Matt [Van Epps] is fighting against a woman who hates Christianity, will take away your guns, wants Open Borders, Transgender for everybody, men in women’s sports, and openly disdains Country music,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

He really hates the thought of women in power, doesn’t he, his cabinet notwithstanding. Just look at the Epstein debacle, where he’s trying to hide that he’s a pedophile. Disdaining country music is *very* minor compared to that. The rest is all hot air, because it’s the same things he blathers about for any and every Democrat. We all know that’s never going to change.

He’s showing signs of being scared, because we are going to kick his a$$ next November. And there’s plenty of evidence for another impeachment, oh, yes, there is. And if we can grab the majority in the Senate, as well as the House? That will make it stick. JD Vance could make it worse. Is that trade-off worth it? It’s 50-50 right now. But, apologies, back to Aftyn for a bit..

Behn has clarified that she gets “mad at the bachelorettes sometimes,” as well as the pedal taverns, but tried to reassure voters that country music is meaningful to her, and Chambers offered an explanation for why she’s polling so much stronger than Democrats who ran in that district in the 2024 election. “On the affordability argument though, there is this negative voter sentiment nationwide about the economy that has carried over since last year, and they’re still very upset, including with the president of United States,” Chambers said. “Many people blaming the sitting president. So will this once again be a potential referendum on those policies? It will be again, tough, given how many points Donald Trump won this district by.”

Trump will continue to bluster and babble. That’s a given. But tough race or not, Ms. Behn can do this. She *will* do this, because there is no reason, including Trump’s poo flinging, that she couldn’t. Going by how tight the race is now, Mr. Van Epps should be worried, not just concerned. Trump isn’t doing him any good. Let’s make Mr. VE sweat. Sounds like fun!

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. About a week or so ago, I saw a story on a YouTube channel refuting a story that was being pushed out about Aftyn’s being “crazy” after she’d been forcibly “escorted” from the Tennessee Governor’s office several years ago. It turned out she was there trying to get the “R” Governor to do something about an “R” legislator who’d been accused of sexually assaulting a minor (I think it was a young woman) and the accusation appeared to have considerable evidence of having happened. The man supposedly acknowledged the “wrongdoing” but refused to resign his seat and the “R” legislators in control of the State House were doing nothing about it (no condemnation, no stripping him from any posts), instead just “thanking” the man for “apologizing” and “promising to do better.” (From the story, the man was reelected even after the accusation–and the “apology”–at least one more time.)

    • Unfortunately, while the city of Nasville went for Aftyn, the rest of the district went for Van Epps, with a 54 – 54 result…..
