The performance artist known as Congresswoman Greene did one stunt too many on Twitter and the platform decided to cancel her act. She was permanently banned, on their fifth strike policy after a Saturday anti-vaxx tweet about how vaccines are killing people. New York Times:

Twitter suspended Ms. Greene’s account after she tweeted on Saturday, falsely, about “extremely high amounts of Covid vaccine deaths.” She included a misleading chart that pulled information from a government database of unverified raw data called the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, or VAERS, a decades-old system that relies on self-reported cases from patients and health care providers.

Twitter said that Ms. Greene had a fifth “strike,” which meant that her account will not be restored. The company had issued her a fourth strike in August after she falsely posted that the vaccines were “failing.” Ms. Greene was given a third strike less than a month before that when she had tweeted that Covid-19 was not dangerous for people unless they were obese or over age 65, and said vaccines should not be required.

So then Marge went over to Telegram and posted, “Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth,” which is a perfect description of herself. As Joseph Goebbels said, “Accuse your enemy of that which you yourself are doing.”

And then Lauren Boebert chimed in because of course she did. The blowback was instantaneous.

Boebert is clueless. Twitter is a private platform. You agree to terms. If you violate those terms, they bop you. Greene got five chances and Trump got many many more. People were begging Jack Dorsey to ban Trump and if he had, maybe the Capitol riot wouldn’t have happened. We’ll never know.

If by chance the Republicans do take the House next year it would not surprise me if this topic did indeed come up, because it’s good tabloid fodder. But they don’t have a leg to stand on, legally.

  1. I don’t know why they are so upset about this. After all, their Jeebus’ second coming in the form of Trump is going to have the bigliest, most awesomest social media platform EVER any time now – one that will swallow up tiny little (by comparison) platorms like Twitter and FB whole! Hell, given how HUGE their voice will be on “Trumpnet” (or whatever he decides to call it) you’d think they wouldn’t care, and even laugh off being banned from Twitter.

It’s almost like they think there will never actually be a Trump media empire with its own “bigger and better” version of social media…

  2. Funny how Boebert’s whining about “fascism” when she’s usually whining about ANTIFA. You know, that loose conglomeration of folks whose only unifying ideology is “anti-fascism.”

It’s as if she really does NOT have a clue about anything.

I think it’s time that, instead of making voting harder, we make running for political office harder. (Maybe just something as simple as a 9th grade civics test?) But then, I guess we’d never see more than 2 or 3 people running as Republicans.

    • I agree with you except for one thing:ninth grade civics tests are either nonexistent or painfully basic.

In Illinois, there was a constitution test in eighth grade and twelfth grade. That was it. Both were quite easy, even when you throw in the state constitution. I think the citizenship test is harder. And Illinois, particularly the district I lived in, has quite good schools.

Still, better than no qualifications whatsoever.

  3. Twitter did not ban Don the Con while he was occupying the White House. They did it AFTER he was evicted because he kept on spouting the same lies.

The difference was, at that time he was NOT the president

  4. Thank you, Twitter. No one will miss Ms. Thing’s bleatings. Now on to Gaetz, Gosar, Gohmert, Bobert, Hawley, Jordan, Cruz, McCarthy and all the other sh*t for brains that think they can casually spew vicious and destructive lies.

  5. She knows, they ALL know. They all understand. It’s more republican performance assholery designed specifically to bilk millions from stupid people…gop voters.
