Yes, yes, this is from yesterday, but it’s one of the few people in our government whom I actually detest, and so it’s getting used. Seems like almost all the GOP does these days is cry about how badly they’re doing in the polls. Well, except for Trump. He doesn’t whine. He screams. “FAKE NEWS” and we think “yea whatever, shut up”. So. GOP flailing. Thank you, Raw Story:
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) admitted on Fox News Sunday night that the Republican Party was “underwater” with Americans on the issue of immigration – once one of the party’s strongest issues – but pivoted to blame Democrats for the GOP’s poor polling performance. “How can we get the numbers switched on immigration?” asked Fox News host Trey Gowdy, a former Republican lawmaker himself. “Trump closed the border, and yet we’re underwater on that issue!”
Woman, HUSH. She doesn’t think. She just repeats what the GOP words of the day are, and I’m not even sure there are more than a few brain cells in her head. She had to be at least decent at something to have been elected, right? First of all, the border isn’t *completely* closed. Second: ICE/CBP/Gnome/CrankyCorey. Third: farmers are going bankrupt because of number two. But that second one is what’s slapping them around. The country was told that illegal immigrants with criminal records would be removed. Nope. Any immigrant *and* any US citizen has a very good chance of being grabbed, abused, thrown into disgusting holding areas, with some just … disappearing. And then there are all the shootings, with how many more we don’t know about. I‘m all for criminals being busted. But regular people? No. For all those people who thought Trump again was going to be great, you suck. How does it feel to be shat on like the rest of us?
The leader of the Republican Party, President Donald Trump, has seen his support on immigration tank among voters, particularly among independent voters. According to an NBC News poll from last month, 60% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of immigration, a dramatic increase from the 49% who disapproved last June. While the drop in support for the president on immigration has coincided with his administration’s aggressive and deadly immigration enforcement operations, Ernst instead moved to blame her Democratic colleagues. “We are underwater on that issue, but we have to come together – both Democrats and Republicans – and find a way forward on this,” Ernst said.
One that doesn’t have her voting yes on the BUB. I would almost bet that Democrats are fine with working together, but the GOP wants it their way or the highway. That’s not happening. The GOP currently holds a majority in Congress. So why don’t *they* do something if things are so bad? We could guess that to actually work would be too much effort for them. Democrats don’t have a damn thing to do with GOP polls. It’s all them and all on them.
“So much can be done on this if only Democrats would want to come to the table, but they’ve demonstrated – whether it’s DHS or anything else – that they just simply despise the president so much they don’t want to do the right thing for our country.” Trump’s plummeting support on immigration was even reflected in a batch of private GOP polling data obtained by Axios in January, which revealed that 60% of independent voters disapproved of Trump’s immigration policy, polling that was conducted before the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. More than 328,000 migrants have been arrested during the second Trump administration, more than 73% of whom have no criminal record, a stark contrast to Trump’s pledge to target only the “worst of the worst.”
Aww, Poor baby and her hurt feefees. Has she even *asked* a Democrat about it? Or does she want to go down with Trump? Stand up for yourself! The truth is probably somewhere in the middle for some things, but the immigration issue is allllllllll theirs. Deflecting and denying don’t work very well when it’s someone’s own fault. It’s damn hard to say we made a mistake, and it’s a whole lot faster to work on a solution when you can admit you fluffed up. That includes me, y’know. I’ve learned a whole lot about my occasional narrow vision or how uninformed I actually am from all the comments, or just plain interesting things people have left for me, and I appreciate it more than I can say. Mark it on your calendars. I didn’t have enough words today. We all know how rare that is *cough*.
Please note: I am well aware that detesting Ernst for the BUB is irrational. I know I’m holding a grudge far too long. I have not been able to forgive her for signing and sending it back, expecting changes, and GETTING NONE. Damn bloated POS legislation. I know it wasn’t all because of her. But she signed, and that did it.
Now I’m going to storm watch for a bit because we have an awesome thunderstorm in the area. Looks like summer is getting started *really* early. See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

“So much can be done on this if only Democrats would want to come to the table, … they don’t want to do the right thing for our country.”
WHAT IS the right thing in your mind? Chances are, it’s the wrong thing. The right thing would be voters’ results, coupled with bipartisan discussions’ agreement, without any “my way or the highway” sh!t.
Remember, ” Government of the people, by the people, for the people.” A. Lincoln.
Excuse me. I was quoting Joni, not saying *I* was saying the right thing for our country. The right thing is bipartisan and I *damn* well know that. Do not put words in my mouth.
I’ve had Joni on the short list for stupidest Senators since the day she was elected. It’s a crowded field. Tommy Tuberville, Markwayne Mullin, Ron Johnson, and Cyndi Hyde-Smith are up there with her.
By the way, her first campaign was run by David Koch of the Koch Brothers fame. She wasn’t allowed to do any interviews (because they couldn’t trust her not to make an ass of herself), and her rally appearances were short, scripted and closely accompanied on stage with her group of minders. David Koch and other luminaries did most of the public speaking on her behalf and they spent a shit-ton of money to get her elected.
Ahahaha. Thank you for that lovely piece of news! I will be ridiculously happy when she’s gone.
