This is about as far from a surprise as you can get. We knew they wouldn’t take the pummeling and roll over. Now it’s (potentially) our turn. The only problem is that they’re heading to the wrong place. They should go to a different state, and a place in that different state. With recognition and a very tiny bit of humor, to Raw Story:
The FBI has warned California law enforcement that Iran could retaliate against American strikes by launching drones on the West Coast of the United States, including locations in California, ABC News reported. The outlet said it had reviewed an alert showing the warning from recent days.
See? Wrong state, wrong place. I am mean and vindictive enough to prefer they take out Mar-A-Slobo. Please understand I am not making light of the alert. If it’s been released, then there’s plausible evidence that it’s possible. I wouldn’t wish that on California, considering how hard it is to protect against drones. Those things are zippy! No, I just want Mar-A-Slobo to be hit with as little loss of life as possible. Well, actually, no, I don’t want people to lose their lives. But it’s a great image!
“We recently acquired information that as of early February 2026, Iran allegedly aspired to conduct a surprise attack using unmanned aerial vehicles from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United States Homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California, in the event that the US conducted strikes against Iran,” according to the alert late February.
The big concern has to be panic. They have a *lot* of people there. We can be sure law enforcement is as much on top of it as they can be. But this is completely unpredictable. So, they’ll do what they can to prepare, then wait and see what happens. Drones do show on radar, but only a specialized version.

Unlike traditional aviation radar, modern counter-UAS radar utilizes micro-Doppler technology to distinguish the fast-spinning propellers of a drone from birds. Take a look at that link. Drones over San Fran (and more). Dang, California is a big state. I can only imagine the headaches there right now. Please let the people have faith that everything and anything that can be done will be done. A strike on one of the most densely populated areas would be a raging mess. And by the way, Iran managed to bag one of our stealth drones back in 2011. I still think they should just take out Mar-A-Slobo and Trump’s golf courses. *That* would *really* hurt him and his feefees. Do we agree?

Is it a coincidence that all the FBI/CIA experts on Iran’s behavior have all been ‘let go’ just before an extremely ill-advised attack on Iran?
An attack conducted with such haste, federal fuel stocks were left largely empty, and no thought was given to foreseen consequences let alone any inkling of the slightest unforseen ones, like what would happen if The Strait of Hormuz was closed for a day or two?
Maybe those things were a secondary consideration to an insecure dementia struck half-wit who wants to see himself as ‘President Of A Country Under Attack’ and thus due the popularity bounce Bush received after 9/11 (and banish all mention of Epstein anything) ?
Even if that attack caused mass deaths in The USA, the ‘homeland’ of Homeland Security?
Could even Dementia Donny be that craven?

California? Color me skeptical. The Pacific is one big ass ocean and so is the Indian Ocean. The Pacific alone is so huge you could drop the entire land mass of the earth into it and still have a large amount of sea surrounding it. The Atlantic on the other hand is often referred to by us and our allies in terms of ‘on your/our side of the pond.’
I think it’s far more likely that if Iran was that crazy (and for all the Death to America rhetoric which over time became like some checkout clerk perfunctorily saying have a nice day) no, Iran isn’t that crazy. They are good with terrorism to be sure but a drone attack on the U.S. would be quite difficult tactically and fucking stupid strategically.
However if they were batshit insane enough to try my bet it it would be down in FL. Mamalade a Lago. Middle easterners don’t think in terms of winning and losing the way we do. In one of his books (The Fist of God) author Frederick Forsythe (who knows his shit) has a character who lived as a child in Iraq pre-Saddam and is a renowned scholar. He explains that for them a better term would be ‘succeed.’ He goes on to define it the way it work have worked for Saddam (the book was about the first Gulf War) explaining that losing badly on the battlefield and sustaining all manner of destruction wouldn’t matter – IF Saddam could so something so bold as to astonish everyone (in this case pop a nuke they’d somehow developed) in a way that would embarrass, even humiliate the west.
When you think about it in those terms a strike on DC which would almost certainly fail spectactularly wouldn’t to the trick. However, IF Iran could sneak a swarm of drones across the Atlantic and get even a single one through to Mar a Lago or perhaps Bedminster it would be a boost for Iran in the region that would haunt us and the west for generations.
Any such attack would give Herr Trumpler the very excuse he needs to declare martial law, something for which he’d be eternally greateful to Iran. Could this be the actual raison d’etre of his stupid war?
