Every sphere of endeavor, be it in the sciences, the arts, crafts, sports or stamp collecting, develops its own terminology. It is no different in the world of our furred and feathered overlords.
However, it has been impressed upon me by the Furkids team (edumakashun sekshun) that their terminology, though similar, does not always mean what we think it means.
Take their legal terms for example. Though many of their words may sound the same, and even look the same, more often than not their meanings are not the same at all.
In light of all the legal news lately — indictments, arraignments, protective orders etc with the promise of more to come — they called in their legal eagles to help me put together this glossary of legal terms.
You can follow the Furkids at ko-fi.com/furkids (and buy them a frothy milk if you’d like to). Michelle is on Twitter as @Mopshell, on Post and Mastodon as @michelle_elle and Spoutible as @MichelleElle with BlueSky and Threads to come.
Unlawful versus illegal
Unlawful – agin the law
Illegal – a sick bird
I will add that one in the next time the Furkids feel the need to school us on legal terms!
{{{Michelle}}} The Furkids are much better at this than humans. Always. Skritches & Healing Energy & moar {{{HUGS}}} all around as appropriate.
This is absolutely darling, Mopsy. I LOVE the kitty with the toilet paper and the baby tigers in particular. But ALLLL the images are wonderful.
