If you were an anthropologist from another planet and you wanted to do an essay on how different First Ladies have approached Christmas in the White House, you could find no greater divergence of approaches than between the last two First Ladies, Jill Biden and Melania Trump. Dr. Biden has brought the magic of the Broadway stage to the White House this season, with a dance troupe that does a 21st century version of the beloved holiday classic The Nutcracker. This expression of artistry and joy is in marked contrast to Melania Trump’s profane and resentful meltdown to her former BFF, Stephanie Winston-Wolkoff, “who gives a fuck about Creesmuss decorations?”
And it goes without saying that Fox News ends up in the middle of it all. They may think that they’re having the desired effect of making Dr. Biden look bad but what they in fact achieve is to make themselves look ridiculous and petty. I guess the image of Black people dancing in the White House was too much for them and their circuits fried.

And Winston-Wolkoff had other words to say about Melania this Xmas, addressing her recent appearance speaking before immigrants.
“I find it to be really deceptive, almost deceitful…I believe that Melania will stay by Donald’s side. Throughout all of this, she is his partner in crime…I find it to be really quite repulsive.”

No love lost there. Melania was a joke of a First Lady. Let’s hope that she stays in the history books and we never see her return to Washington. She was a total mismatch and we don’t need anymore of the destruction and disrespect that she brought to the already catastrophic four years of Trump ruin.
It was the worst of times, it was the worst of times. It was a time when the sitting POTUS suggested drinking bleach and putting UV lights up one’s derriere, as a means to combat the pandemic, while his spouse ripped out the rose garden and created nightmare Halloween visions out of “fucking Creesmuss decorations.” We’ve done our time. We don’t need to suffer the Trumps any further.
Let’s just hope that the third run of Trump manages to restore the House to Democratic hands, and keep the White House and Senate solidly in those same hands — hopefully with a hefty increase in the senatorial margin. Now wouldn’t that be lovely? I’m getting gooseflesh just thinking about it.
Then maybe the GOP will finally finish crashing and burning and rebuild itself into some new form of conservative party.
Sunlight is the best disinfectant. The more we can compare what the Bidens do, to what the Trumps did, the better it is for the Bidens.
Also, this type of manufactured complaint just serves to illuminate the inherent racist bias of the right-wing and their trumpeters. Racism that is so entrenched within them, they don’t realize they have it, until everyone else points it out in the whingings they squeak up.
What I find comical is the depiction of these dancers as bomb throwing radicals, with plans to defund the police. But hey, Murdoch has made billions pushing these levels of utter nonsense. He obviously knows his market, right?

I thought Melania’s Xmas comments were so odd at the time. Of course they were vulgar but what I found odd is that most people, girls at least, grow up loving Xmas trees and ornaments. At least I did. And I remember talking to other kids in school about decorating the tree and favorite ornaments and all that.
What kind of a world did Melania grow up in, where “who geeves a fuck about Creesmuss decorations” is normal? It’s not an American mindset, I feel comfortable saying that. I even talked to a lot of guys growing up and they loved it when their dad would put a train around the Xmas tree, remember all that? And going up on the roof to do the outdoor decorations?
Decorating for Xmas and all the wonderful baking and things are totally American. If Melania can’t appreciate that, it speaks to her narrowness of life experience more than to the triviality of Xmas decorations. Xmas is a wonderful time of year.
It isn’t as if Melanoma actually had to do any real.work.for Christmas. She had to.spend 5minutes looking at several alternatives and pick one. Total.of 20 minutes out of 4years. I.guess it took time away from.her caviar baths, courtesy of Putin, and her hair appointments and selecting something expensive to wear while doing absolutely nothing except destroying the Rose Garden.
