Once again the GOP has dug up the corpse of Irony for a flogging. Mixed with some Trump fluffing that is getting a certain Fox ‘news’ host/personality ratioed on social media. As you know, California Gov. Gavin Newsom seems to have mastered Trump’s social media style (for lack of a better word) to mock Trump and the GOP. Newsome has baited all of MAGA, and as the headline of an article I will talk about has swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
As an opinion piece from Alternet explains Fox’s Dana Perino has stepped up to help ‘front’ the MAGA pushback to protect that meanie Newsom from making fun of their Trumpty and other Republicans now in Newsom’s social media crosshairs. But this is mostly about her reflecting MAGA’s being upset at their Orange Turn-God Emperor getting bested at his own game by a Democrat. From CALIFORNIA! That second part is really getting to MAGA. Perino, like the others at Fox know this.
Now, Dana Perino isn’t THE top MAGA gal at Fox. Laura Ingraham is the one with the prime time weekday evening show. However if for whatever reason Ingraham were to no longer have her time slot it’s a safe bet Perino, another blonde & blue Aryan with impeccable MAGA credentials would seamlessly take over. Perino isn’t stupid any more than the other main figures at Fox. She knows what she spouts is bullshit but the money is just too good for her and the others to pass up. The damage they cause doesn’t factor in.
Perino was elevated to the position of White House Press Secretary for the last couple of years of Bush 43’s tenure. Granted, it was Bush but back then someone had to actually have the chops for such a job. That’s why she should have known better than to get suckered by what Newsom has been doing. Maybe she just wanted to polish her MAGA cred just in case (Ingraham) and speak to MAGA’s angst. In comments completely lacking of any self awareness of the irony really stepped in it:
Fox News personality Dana Perino said Newsom “has to stop it with the Twitter thing. I don’t know where his wife is. If I were his wife, I would say you are making a fool of yourself, stop it.”
“He’s got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little bit more serious.”
Talk about case of ‘Physician, heal thyself’ or rather ‘heal Trump!’ Newsom should stop spending time on social media? His wife should talk to him? Well, leaving aside that in MAGA world wives aren’t supposed to go giving their husbands a ‘talking to.’ They are to submit. Take care of the home and kids. Stay fit an pretty enough to be eye candy when hubby takes them out, and of course ‘please’ them in the bedroom. But calling out Newsom when Trump spends most of his days watching TV and knocking out social media posts, even conducting (or trying to) official government business on social media is a whole next-level piece of willful dumbassery.
What the author of the linked article suggests is that Newsom set Trump and MAGA up. BAITED them figuring at some point if not Trump himself another prominent MAGA figure would say something as stupid (more like STOOPID) as Perino said. And she’s a pretty big name in MAGA world given her time and position on Fox. As I said she is smart enough (or used to be) that she should have known better. Maybe her brain has rotted after so many years at The Trump News Network formerly known as Fox News.
Well, I suggest reading the linked article to get a sense of the response to Perino’s views. The author bluntly states he doesn’t read comments to his work nor that of many others. That that’s what he has assistants for, and he trusts them to pass along notable items. Let’s just say from what he describes Perino has been getting bashed over calling out Newsom for doing just a little of what TRUMP does all the time! Who knows? I have to admit I hadn’t seen anything about this until this morning. So to our readers, if you are adept at social media (I’ll be the first to admit I’m not) I suggest you join the chorus and pile on Perino for her idiotic comments.
Newsom wisely separates himself from the satirical memes posted by his press office. When he is on camera, or making a public appearance, he is serious and articulate…dare I say, presidential? He has won millions of new supporters, in the US and abroad. THAT is what really triggers the Trump sycophants at Fox “News.”
Why is it that democrats act more, look more dignified and presidential than republicans over the last few decades? There offerings in this century consist of, “Huh?” and “I don’t know but I’ll make something up and proclaim myself a genius.” Then comes an army of propagandists telling us his blinding intelligence is divinely inspired, while the drooling dullards who make up his base say, “Hell yeah!”
