It is not a good day to be a RWNJ conspiracy theorist. Mike Lindell took to the airwaves earlier to beg for money for his legal fund (shall we remind him that Everything Trump Touches Dies?) and a few hours later this story broke about Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, conspiracy theorists extraordinaire, being fined $5 Million by the FCC. Ouch.

They tried to discourage mail-in voting by lying about nefarious plots against those who chose to vote that way. These guys deserve every bit of misery they get. I have zero empathy. My only emotion now is curiosity. How, oh freaking how are they going to pay this? Maybe go over to Mike Lindell and get hooked up with his legal fund?

If you’re the least bit curious, here’s news of that.

A $5 Million fine strikes me as an urgent cause. And then there’s the felony charges. Aye aye aye. Washington Post:

Two right-wing operatives infamous for inventing outlandish conspiracy theories face felony charges in Michigan for allegedly intimidating voters with inaccurate robocalls that discouraged residents in urban areas from casting their ballots by mail.

Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman were charged with four felonies of intimidating voters, conspiring to violate election law and using a computer to commit a crime, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Thursday. Thousands of residents from at least five states received the robocall aimed at discouraging absentee voting at a time when many Americans are expected to vote by mail rather than in person during the coronavirus pandemic.

Each charge against the pair carries a five- or seven-year sentence if they are convicted in Michigan — adding up to a maximum 12 years as some sentences for the charges would be concurrent. Wohl and Burkman, who live in Los Angeles and Arlington, Va., respectively, have not yet been arraigned, Nessel’s office said, adding that it is “too early to say if formal extradition will be necessary or if they will present themselves here voluntarily in the very near future.”

The fine is a proposed fine, but whatever fine they come up with is going to be steep. And the felony charges are nothing to laugh at.

These guys wouldn’t get when the getting was good. You probably remember Wohl’s harebrained scheme to smear Robert Mueller on sexual harassment charges. That was in 2019. He could have woken up then. He did not. So now he’s got an even louder alarm clock.
