I don’t remember knowing about this previously, although some of you might. This article is terrifying, especially given the state Trump is in now, the crazy child getting what he wants all the time. We no longer have any control over him. He has filled his ‘cabinet’ with slobbering sycophants who don’t know how to say no, and wouldn’t say it even if they did. Let me show you something. Former Homeland Security Chief of Staff Miles Taylor issued a dire warning Friday about a secret instruction book hidden in a “secure location” at the White House that contains a catalog of pre-drafted executive orders that would allow the president to do “extraordinary things” — powers that Taylor feared President Donald Trump may soon invoke.
“After I served in Donald Trump’s administration, ultimately as chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, one of the possibilities that worried me most was that the wrong person would gain access to that book,” Taylor wrote in a report published Friday in The i Paper.
That report is pretty doggone interesting reading and, of course, worth the time for it. Please feel free to say I’m over-exaggerating. But just from those first two paragraphs and that report, we have a reason to be deeply concerned. Trump has no guardrails. None. Zip, zero, zilch. He believes he can do anything he wants, except he can’t. We’ll do our damndest to keep him from doing so. He’s turning more and more of the country against him, even MAGA.
Informally known as the “Doomsday Book,” Taylor explained that the secret book is secured in a location “known to only a handful of people,” and was created under the Eisenhower administration “to keep the country running if Washington was destroyed in a nuclear strike.” The pre-drafted executive orders included in the book would permit the president to censor the press, detain civilians, suspend communications and enact “what amounts to martial law,” Taylor wrote.
“The President himself – although I once heard him refer to his ‘magical authorities’ to bypass legal constraints – did not fully understand the powers he possessed, I was told.”
It would be a surprise if he remembered it now. We do not know who currently has access to the “keys”. Is it someone with morals and a deep understanding of what the Doomsday Book is? Or are they all sycophants? Because someone would slip in front of Trump, and then it would be bad. Now, we know that his memory is bad, but. But.
While Taylor believed Trump was not aware during his first term of the powers he could attain by enacting executive orders already pre-prepared in the “Doomsday Book,” during his second term, Taylor warned that it now “feels far from fantasy.”
“Three years ago, my concern was that Trump did not fully appreciate the powers he might – in a nightmare scenario – be able to abuse,” Taylor wrote. “Today, my concern is that he’s decided to do so. This is no longer the stuff of cheap fiction. But if we let it happen, American democracy would read like one.”
We already have proof of Trump abusing his powers. He has SCOTUS wrapped around his little finger. He has a ‘cabinet’ that will do what he says. And he has a complicit Congress. We are running out of time if he knows about that book. He’s already looking at how to provoke martial law. He’s already trying to erase midterms. He is trying to become a dictator. But if he uses that book, well, we’re in a heap of trouble.
