It’s understandable why Ivanka Trump is choosing to sit this one out, other than being an “informal advisor” to her father. Her brothers and their spouses/paramours are only making the family name blacker, which is no small feat. Eric Trump is basically considered the stupidest of Donald’s five children. While that might be debatable, the fact that he’s the most tone deaf is not. Here, he’s joining in the *gag* of his father talking about invading foreign territories. It’s not a funny ha ha situation. It’s an embarrassing one. And indeed, unless Trump truly wants to go down in history as the western version of Vladimir Putin, it would be best if this so called gag of annexing the neighbors be allowed to be forgotten.

Donald will poo himself as soon as he gets in the White House and realizes that he’s not running the show, that his supposedly devoted sycophants are. Then look for it all to really hit the fan.
The problem in this country is media based and has been, since Trump came down the escalator and got normalized. Trump has his own right-wing media organ, manifesting in Fox News, Newsmax, OANN, right-wing radio stations and local TV everywhere via Salem Broadcasting, Bott Radio (Xian channel) Breitbart, etc. That would be bad enough but for the fact that the oligarchy-owned legacy media outlets keep doing things like seeking AI to write both pro and anti-Trump comments (Los Angeles Times) and refusing to publish anti-Trump editorials. (Both Los Angeles Times and the Bezos Bugle, my new name for the Washington Post. And apologies to the real journalists who work at both places because there are some.)
We cannot continue to live with two versions of reality but there is no sign of that changing. So now the world is put in the position of looking at America askance, wondering how much is coming out of Trump world strictly for entertainment purposes and how much is an actual threat that other countries need to prepare for?
They don’t know, we don’t know, and Donald Trump is so unstable that it’s very possible that he doesn’t know either. He follows his moods and whims of the moment.
We do know that Trump is revenge motivated and he may have cobbled together a list of slights against foreign countries as well as his traditional enemies in politics and the press. He may, like many immature and insecure minds before him, want to test his boundaries and see what the pushback is.
Or, he may have delusions of empire building as his legacy. All we can do is speculate. But one thing that is absolute is that since November 5, America has lost face in the eyes of the world and become a country which is monitored like banana republics on the eve of a messy upheaval are usually monitored.
And for the same reason: there is an unstable, corrupt leader in power, who seeks to further corrupt the government by installing his cronies and relatives into positions of power for which they are totally unsuited.
This is where we are in the last few days of 2024. I think that one of the most shopworn phrases in days to come will be, “We told you so.”
I like the Bezos Bugle thing. It got me thinking of other possibilities less polite. Bezos Bungle. Bezos “Bufu.” I could go on. Perhaps others will chime in. Well, I just wanted to check in and take care of some admin work but had to read stuff that’s been posted. Soon I’ll be into the rest of my annual Christmas Eve routine.
