Wow, what is going on with this administration and Trump’s Revenge Tour™? It’s yet another petty bull case. But she won, and he didn’t, so they want to know if she was truthful. Dude. You are wasting your time and money. Well, the DoJ doesn’t need to worry about money, but Trump does. Trump owes her. A lot. The jury decided the case, and the judge set the fine. He hasn’t paid yet. With gratitude to Raw Story:
A former aide to President Donald Trump questioned why his administration was launching a criminal investigation of E. Jean Carroll, who successfully sued him twice for sexual assault and defamation, just months before crucial elections. A jury found Trump liable in 2023 for sexually abusing the writer and columnist decades earlier, and he was also found liable for defamation over comments he made about her on social media.
We remember this, even if it was a couple of years ago. She nailed him to the wall in her case. Suing him for defamation when he started babbling on Truth Social about her was pure genius. He most certainly did so. This was Before My Time At Pz, but my household still followed the cases. There was a lot of celebrating. Twice. He can never keep his thumbs and lips from babbling.
Former White House director of strategic communications Alyssa Farah Griffin told “CNN News Central” the Department of Justice perjury investigation of Carroll, announced Wednesday, was a bemusing mistake. “I will never understand why this administration wants to put some of the worst associations of the president back in the headlines,” Griffin said. “Most of us have kind of forgotten about the E. Jean Carroll suit, the allegations, what he was ultimately found liable for, and now it puts it front and center.”
This is frivolous. Sheesh, once again the DoJ has time on its hands. Actually, since they are trying to persecute all of Trump’s enemies, and nothing else, they have the time. What a waste. They must have found a prosecutor who is not afraid to have their name splashed across the media. Whoever it is, they haven’t been paying attention to all the cases Trump and company have been losing. It’s hard to miss because it’s everywhere.
Co-host John Berman asked what the administration got out of pursuing possible prosecution against Carroll. “Absolutely nothing – it’s not a headline that they want, and we’ve seen a number of these cases go forward,” Griffin said. “James Comey and others, where they overreach. DOJ was not able to get the outcome that they wanted, and I suspect this will be a similar case, not from a legal perspective, but based on what we know, this should be the last thing Donald Trump wants to talk about in the twilight of his presidency. He should be focusing on the economy, gas prices, the war in Iran, not re-litigating this.”
Boom bahdah bing! He should be concentrating on what affects us directly. Most people didn’t and don’t care about those cases, except for folks like us, because E. Jean Carroll took him to the cleaners. He should be concentrating on the treaty with Iran. Someone gets to waste their time on this. Why bother? Only because Trump doesn’t want to give up the money. Oh, wait, he’s also a vindictive bastard. Oops.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

If he is appealing the decision, where is it in the system? Can the beneficiary take steps expedite it or, more directly, sue to enforce the handing over of the compensation the jury determined?
i would assume that if carroll could expedite things she would. as for the alegations in the doj investigation they seem to be concerned wirh who covered the costs of her suit against trump, not with the substance of the suit. they aren’t claiming she lied about being assaulted they are claiming she lied about who was paying her lawyer. short sighted and stupid as always.
