And we are not sorry for them. It was bullshizzle from the get-go, just another one of Trump’s temper tantrums and insisting something be done Right Now. The DoJ has admitted the case is going nowhere, and they are shutting it down. It was ridiculous in the first place. Some of the things they had already tried resulted in failure. There was no real reason to keep going.
As expected, Powell showed he had nothing to hide and no reason to be brought up on charges. All they needed was a good forensic auditor to take a look at the costs listed to show there was no funny business. We’ve firmly believed in Powell from the beginning. At the time this was started, Blondi was still in charge, and she got this thing started. That made Trump happy because he thought Powell was his nemesis. He also thought he could force Powell to do whatever he wanted. Nothing could be further from the truth. I appreciate Raw Story:
“The DOJ’s exercise here resulted in zero political upside for Trump — just a singular, stinging failure,” the Friday article reads. “Having a new Fed chair will be a nice perk, but the investigation was nothing but a headache for anyone involved.”
U.S. Attorney General Jeanine Pirro announced that “I have directed my office to close our investigation” into Powell, adding that her office “has the authority to hold the Federal Reserve accountable.” Powell’s term ends on May 15.
*snort* Pirro can’t do a damn thing right. Look at all the failures she’s had bringing people up on charges. Remember Sandwich Guy? She tried to charge him with a felony and got laughed out of court (figuratively speaking), then a misdemeanor, and it was thrown out of court, too. C’mon now, Jeanine. It was a Subway sandwich. It could hardly hurt *almost anyone*. Maybe a baby, but he wouldn’t throw it at a baby. So, no one could be hurt. It’s a pity she hasn’t been kicked to the curb yet. The only thing she does is lose.
The move backfired, the article argued, as Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) came out in opposition to Kevin Warsh, Trump’s pick to replace the Fed chairman, because of the probe. Tillis’ standoff as proof that the Senate “still has leverage over the White House,” Punchbowl reports wrote.
Pirro said in a statement that the DOJ “will not hesitate to restart a criminal investigation.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, (D-MA) acknowledged the threat and said in a statement that, “Anyone who believes Donald Trump’s corrupt scheme to take over the Fed is over is fooling themselves,” Warren said in a statement.
Let’s have a round of applause for Senator Warren and Senator Tillis! Well done! I ask that you read the article Kevin Warsh up ^^^ there. It’s quite interesting, and it shows we are in trouble when he takes over. I’m pretty sure he is a yes-man. Whether or not he actually can do the job will have to wait until he’s been there a couple of months. I do not have warm, fuzzy feelings of confidence about this guy. With the Senate Committee grilling him, and then before the full Senate, there are questions he did not answer, which is a bad sign. He’s going to drop the interest rate like Trump wants, and BOOM, recession here we come. Aren’t you excited?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
