When the shredded down CR finally passed, it removed all funding for this quiet little group and a whole lot more. I’m talking about the Global Engagement Center, started in 2016 and crashed down the day the painfully small CR passed. So, so, so many places that need funding that aren’t going to get it. This particular one bothers me a lot, and I’m sure there would be others but we’ll never finds out the list except when another division crashes, and crashes and crashes.
The Global Engagement Center, i.e. GEC, monitors all over the world to track disinformation from Russia, China, and many others. Now that is gone, and how much are we losing with this engagement center cut out? Merry Christmas, folks – except there won’t be one because y’all lost your jobs and that’s ridiculously painful since tRump and MAGA are dicks. But financing the government, and agreeing on both sides of the aisle is all you idiots could do. And let me say it again. Keeping the government running is ALL. YOU. COULD. DO.
I’ll bet that think Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare aren’t going to get their financing except for what people are paying into it. There’ll not be any extra and SS is already forecast to run out in 2035. And people will only receive 83% of the amount they should have. That alone is going to hurt the people who have worked in our country.
So we have no disinformation watching. We have no idea if someone might slip and mention something that’s coming up that we didn’t know about, but now it’s too late. If it’s something MAJOR? We’re screwed. We *might* have had a chance to learn about it, but now we certainly won’t! Apparently it’s pretty small so jeez, folks, could you have kept this going? No. Nope. Not happening. And here are more reasons.
What’s more, Trump has long been a staunch advocate of Russia and his hero, Vladimir Putin. While he frequently insults American leaders in the most vile terms, he has never said anything derogatory about Putin. He doesn’t want to cut off the flow of support he gets from Vlad. Which is why he wouldn’t want a government agency pointing out all of the dishonest propaganda that emanates from Russian sources. And his MAGA minions in Congress cooperated by defunding the agency.
Wait! We still have Xitter! That’s REALLY good for disinformation!
So MAGA? Go take a running leap at yourselves sideways. This is AMERICA. Not Russia, Not China, Not the UK, Not South Africa, not any other country in the world (much as Trump wants Greenland, they’re quite loudly saying NO YOU CAN’T BUY US). This is NOT a dictatorship and there are people here who believe in America and will fight you for every step. If Trump thinks differently, he’s wrong and he will STAY wrong.

Has it occurred to anyone to point out to GenX, Millennials,,and agency and is that without Social Security, they will.either have to pay for their parents’nursing homes or cafe for them at home? Betcha they’d vote Del in a heartbeat once that harsh truth sinks in.
