This guy must be related to Trump. You do not spend this amount of money on something like this. Dude, are you trying to audition to be a Trump family member, because good lawd this is ridiculous! We, the peons, would be happy to have a new chair and desk, let alone the things he says he has to have. Really? With thanks to Raw Story:
Infighting inside the Department of Homeland Security has erupted with senior leadership turning on a top border official over what aides described as an excessive office renovation request.
That’s according to a Politico exclusive, which reported Friday that Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott is at the center of the internal conflict after he sought approval for a sweeping $2.1 million renovation of his office suite. The request came as the Trump administration continues to press DHS to ramp up deportations and accelerate construction of the border wall.
Yea no. See what I mean? If we had even a couple hundred of that, we would be happy, but *millions*? Who slipped something into this guy’s Wheaties? It’s difficult to imagine. And think of the arrogance, to assume you were worth that much for your *office*? Perhaps he hasn’t been introduced to that orange big box store yet.
The proposal included nearly $300,000 for new furniture, more than $86,000 for furniture-related services, and $33,000 for “window treatments, millwork, and equipment,” according to a memo obtained by Politico.
“That request was met with befuddlement by Noem’s team, who were surprised that such an ask was made because they felt the proposed amount of money to spend was excessive, according to the three officials granted anonymity because they’re not authorized to speak to the media,” Politico reported Friday, referring to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
“We were like, what? This seems totally insane,” one administration official told the outlet, especially as CBP is expected to relocate its headquarters in the coming years.
And totally insane it is! Are these items made of real gold as opposed to Trump gold? Of course, we’re just citizens and don’t need anything so grandiose. But still! … Okay, it’s also entertaining to think about what kinds of things cost that much for a renovation. Did he reach out to the gazillionaires for suggestions?
While DHS ultimately greenlit roughly $1.9 million of the project for mold remediation, security improvements, and IT infrastructure, about $137,000 worth of cosmetic upgrades was rejected late last year. But according to Politico, the internal strife runs deeper than office décor.
“As the Trump administration faces internal fallout from the deadly Minneapolis shooting, top DHS political leadership, including Noem and top aide Corey Lewandowski, have told people they’re frustrated that Scott is not delivering results at the speed that they want, according to the three officials,” the report stated.
Hmmmm, okay, some of those improvements certainly needed to be made, but millions$$? And then good grief! What *kind* of results? They have their 10,000 new excuses for agents for ICE. What else is there? Upgrading facilities across the country, but not for the people they dragged off, of course. You have to have a ‘special’ kind of mind to work for ICE/CBP. And as someone slammed me on a previous column, everyone *has* to know they’re working for ICE (and CBP), which means no plausible denial is possible. ‘Nuff said.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Meanwhile, most of America (including Drumpf’s MAGAts) live in HOUSES that don’t even cost $300,000. I’m willing to bet most Americans haven’t spent $300,000–or even $86,000–on ALL the furniture they’ve ever bought in their entire lives.
And what EXACTLY are “furniture-related services?” What kind of “services” would be needed for NEW furniture? I could understand re-upholstering as a “furniture-related” service but for NEW furniture? The only other thing I can think of would be moving the furniture (the old taken out and the new brought in) but why not just say “moving and installing?”
