Took long enough, ha. Democrats are energized after performing above expectations in the two Florida special elections, and their win in Wisconsin against Muskrat and Traitor Tot. I was dancing around my office when that happened! Since Congress is off for the next two weeks, the DNC is sponsoring Senator Booker (oh yes), Senator Chris Murphy, and other, younger, popular House Democrats on the move!

They are fanning out across the country and rallying their party’s base in battleground districts. As of this writing, they have done 71 town halls in 35 states. That’s a damn good start and I’ll bet they are nowhere near done! From Raw Story: “Normally in election cycles, I’m all over the country trying to help people, but I’m working even harder now trying to help local parties, trying to help congressional candidates,” Senator Booker said. “This is all hands on deck.” Aw, yea. I think anyone who gets to see Senator Booker is in for a treat, especially after that speech. But remember, it isn’t just Senator Booker going out and about. It’s more of the popular Congressmen, not just him. They are taking their show on the road and supporting grassroots campaigns on more moderate Republicans’ home turf.

From Raw Story, again. “This is why me and others are looking towards swing districts, where clearly the stuff that’s being proposed is not popular amongst some of these Republicans. And we know their base in their districts, Republican and Democrat, are against what’s happening,” Booker said. “So we just want to do everything we can to lead in this moment, and the elections will take care of themselves.” Alrighty! They aren’t just encouraging Democrats. They’re listening to Republicans, too! I saw some of those earlier town halls, and they were brutal, with *everyone* getting hammered, Republican or Democrat. The people are unhappy with *both* sides of the aisle.

And yes, this: After a handful of Republicans faced vitriol at recent town halls, GOP leaders have been coaching rank-and-file members to avoid the public gatherings when back in their districts these next two weeks. I remember that. Some Republicans went out anyhow, and I commend them for doing so, not for anything else, but they were out there. “Town halls have become a tool of the left to shout everybody down,” Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC)who says he still plans to meet with constituents over recesstold Raw Story. “It’s a hate Trump rally.” Gee, ya think??! People are noticing Agent Orange is doing exactly the opposite of what he said on the campaign trail and they are un – hap – py. Democrats say that’s because the American people hate Trump’s policies, especially the dismantling of the federal government by billionaire Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency — or DOGE. And they sense an opening.

People from both sides of the aisle are pissed, nervous and scared. Look at what tRump has done with tariffs and the stock markets! Folks have lost their entire retirement account due to his machinations. Absolutely everything gone. Prices keep going up, and not just for eggs. Inflation is accelerating, and a lot of them see a recession coming. I’ve been job hunting for nearly 2 years and haven’t gotten even a nibble. So now a recession? That’s going to make that search exponentially harder, and don’t forget all the federal workers who were laid off. At least I get to write about The Mango Mandarin Messiah and his latest insanity. So, that’s something.

Elections may take care of themselves, but party leaders in Washington are helping with these efforts a great deal. The Democratic National Committee (DNC), Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and Association of State Democratic Committees (ASDC) sponsor the town hall tour. They say the momentum’s only just beginning to build, even as they feel emboldened for one of the first times since getting shellacked in November. Now, how about that?
