In a House Homeland Security meeting New York Congressman Dan Goldman unleased on his Republican counterparts. Why? They were pushing through a bill that has ZERO dollars for cash-strapped FEMA, but had a provision for a THREE HUNDRED MILLION allocation so Trump could golf! Ok, so the language of the bill doesn’t put it quite that way. It’s couched in terms about providing reimbursement to state and local LE that help protect Trumpy when he’s out doing stuff. As in GOLFING! So yes, Goldman threw their sh*t right in their faces. Good for him!
I was startled by the headline of this article from 2paragraphs and am glad it caught my eye. Goldman’s mini-rant includes the fact that RED districts get hit with floods, tornados, hurricanes too. More importantly he states a simple and undeniable truth – that when THEIR (red) districts get hit by natural disasters every one of them is demanding help from FEMA. As in RIGHT NOW DAMMIT!!!
One would think watching former Trump Official Lie-Monger Press Secretary Sarah “Hucksterbee” Sanders would make them reconsider their actions. Sanders is now Gov. of her home state of Arkansas and she owes her position less to her dad having been Governor there than her service to Trump. She’s pretty much begging Trump. After recent devastation to her state Trump flatly rejected her request for a federal disaster declaration. Here on PZ I wrote about the fact she’s gone back, practically begging and gotten the cold shoulder. (I’d say Arkansas voters will be a tad skeptical of her trying to tout Trump connections when she runs for re-election) Trump and his pal, Puppy-Shooter (in the face) Kristi Noem want to eliminate FEMA entirely. Of course since it was created by Congress it would take an act of Congress to cut it.
However the message from the WH is clear. Knowing damn well the uproar that would ensue if the GOP actually put up and voted for legislation outright eliminating FEMA it looks like they are trying the next best thing. Starve it of money when requests for funding come in! They aren’t exactly being subtle about it though. ZERO dollars in the bill in question? House Leadership is just as bumbling and PR tone deaf as the Trump administration itself. All it takes is someone willing to grab a bullhorn and call them out. Enter Dan Goldman who I hope will be joined with a chorus of fellow Democrats in both the House and the Senate. Goldman has gotten things off to a good start:

Well hell. I used to be able to get an actual tweet into a post but can’t seem to today. Only the link but I promise you it’s worth the watch. Goldman says things like:
Focusing on the FEMA funding, Goldman warned his Republican colleagues: “You are voting for a bill that includes nothing, nothing for money that you will need. And you will need it. You are being short-sighted.”
Goldman added with sarcasm, “But do not worry…we are going to make sure that Donald Trump can play golf. Because that’s where our $300 million of FEMA money should go to. It’s a disgrace.”
Goldman also pointed out that in his first 99 days Trump had spent 24 GOLFING. One could argue Trumpty whiling away his time cheating at golf means he’s not up in DC doing any damage. Unfortunately he leaves behind a bunch of people doing damage on his behalf. The best we can get sometimes is the ole “when the boss is away” behavior and they take some personal time. As for Trump golfing, it’s the one time we don’t see his ugly face PAINTED ORANGE! Of course he looks ghastly without all that ugly orange face armor. Like death warmed over. Whether soon or years from now when Trump’s time comes I can imagine the embalmer saying ‘WTF am I supposed to do with THAT? Somebody call whoever caked all that crap on him every day when he was alive!”
Getting back to business, there’s a great opportunity here if Democrats in leadership and their messaging folks have any ability at all. $300 MILLION for Trump to GOLF. $O for Disaster Victims makes for one helluva theme. At least to me. I’m sure some of those reading this can come up with something better and more pointed. For damned sure there are Democratic consultants getting paid sums I can only dream about who are supposed to be experts at this stuff. Time they showed us something!
In the meantime I’ll once again ask you to do what I do all the time. Contact your Representatives and Senators, especially the Democratic ones. Ask them to make this a big talking point. It’s really pretty damned simple. So much so even a MAGA can understand it. Especially in some red place like Arkansas. No, most of the dumbass MAGAs won’t turn on their turd-god Emperor but they’ll be pissed enough at Noem, Musk and ‘the g-damned gubmint’ to raise some hell. Maybe enough to get GOP Congress Critters more afraid of them than of Trump.
We’ve seen already there’s plenty of anger out there in red America. Those town halls for those with the guts to hold them are a sight to behold. Lot’s of these people know what Goldman pointed out – at some point THEY will need FEMA. I say let’s try to force this into a Democratic talking point that can’t be ignored. Turn up the heat on the GOP.

We’re PAYING for a cheater to cheat.
His golfing cost so much because he ONLY plays at courses he owns. Granted, for any President (or even VP) keeping some extra distance means limiting play on any course during a round, and even routing people away from a given hole at a given time. If you look at most courses from overhead the view you see on TV with tree lined fairways is misleading. It’s not big patches of woods, and fairways run fairly close together. There are courses/clubs in the DC area Presidents have used regularly but Trump avoids them. Even Army-Navy Club and the one at Ft. Belvoir. That’s a head scratcher for me because he could control the number of players just like at one of his own clubs. However, tony private clubs like Congressional or Burning tree? These have lots of members who FUND campaigns of Congress Critters and Presidents and they aren’t about to surrender their courses to any President, not even Trump so he can keep people too far away to follow, observe and film him. Plus, his fat ass is so lazy he sometimes drives his freaking cart ON TO THE GREEN right next to his ball rather than walk, or rather waddle thirty feet or so! That does lots of damage to greens which is why it’s forbidden. Someone caught doing it would be banned for life and at exclusive clubs word would be passed to ensure that person got generally blackballed at other places. Even at a cheap municipal track a person would be banned and word would get passed around.
But Trump and on his own courses? He doesn’t care! It takes a long time for such damage to be healed but Trump doesn’t care. If his ball wound up in a torn up section after an approach shot, or if a damaged area was between his ball and the hole he’d just drop his ball on the other side CLOSER to the hole. (Way closer) There are rules for free drops for what’s called ‘ground under repair’ but it requires taking relief in specific ways, and NEVER closer to the hole.
Anyway Trump cheats at golf like he lies. CONSTANTLY and the only way he can get away with it is by playing on his own courses. Remember how/where he met Stormy Daniels? It was at a celebrity tournament. With galleries and he couldn’t get away with cheating. He was still a half-decent golfer then but never actually shot scores that would give him/his team an actual chance. That shit is long in the past. People he plays with at his clubs let him get away with whatever he wants, and celebrities and pro golfers that play with him shut down and/or start joking around when pressed about what his actual score was. They know damn well the Par (or close to it) score he records on his card (don’t think for one second he does things the correct way and has a player partner keep his score) and turns in is a farce.
I could go on and on about this. But will shut up for now
The sad truth is, if Harris was president, she would have called the governor asking what she needed and it would have been available immediately without he having to even ask, let alone beg.
I hope they are happy that they got to “own the libs” and elect the orange-faced dictator wanna-be.
