As you’ve undoubtedly heard, doomsday was called off about 90 minutes before Trump’s threat to destroy the entire Iranian civilization and potentially kick off WWIII. It was a lose/lose negotiation for Trump, which of course he is spinning as a win. Bottom line, the Strait of Hormuz will open for two weeks (under Iranian control) and there is no formal cessation of their nuclear program. So why did Trump get into this conflict to begin with? Good question.
Iran’s Foreign Minister announced that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen for two weeks during the ceasefire, but the Strait will remain under Iranian control.
There is no mention in the agreement of Iran’s nuclear program, which means that Trump’s pretense for starting this war of choice has been taken off the table.
None of this has stopped Trump from celebrating his surrender on Truth Social:
Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!
Trump continued to try to sell his defeat as victory:
The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.
We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.
Trump can spin this any way that he chooses, but the fact is that he started a war based on regime change and ending Iran’s nuclear program.
He accomplished neither goal.
What makes this defeat especially embarrassing for the United States is that Trump started a war that ended in a loss and forced the United States to surrender.
The entire war can be summed up in one sentence. Iran’s economic warfare was stronger than Trump’s bombing campaign.
Experts say that the Iranian regime is now stronger than it was before Trump began the war.
On every level, this war has been a failure. The economic impact of what Trump has done is expected to be felt in the United States and around the world for a minimum of months, if not years.
The United States got nothing out of this war, except more embarrassment in the Middle East.
Trump is going to continue to sell Americans a cow pie and tell them that it’s chocolate mousse. That’s how he rolls. It will never be different. The only question right now is, how many more times is Trump going to do this. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice….
A priceless … errr pointless position for the No King of piss and poison to spout lacking in insight awful bluffs from. Is it plausible that JD Vance & Gabbard have deliberately remained silent since this shit show of bluff has started … biding their time to get the nod after that deteriorating mad No King gets 25th deposed.
