This is a breaking scoop from Oliver Darcy, who specializes in media reporting. It looks like Jim Acosta will soon be free to go elsewhere. I know that Meidas News has indicated their interest in hiring him and that would be a major coup for them. It would be — in my humble opinion — the beginning of a true factual media outlet to compete with the cowering legacy media who are afraid to report the truth, much less in real time. As I’ve been wailing and keening for eight years now, the issue that we face as Democrats is that the MAGA Republicans (and that’s the entire party now) have a slick and powerful right-wing media apparatus cranking out propaganda non stop. We need to get in gear and crank out the truth and this could be the start of that.

The anchor, I’m told, signaled to associates in private conversations over the weekend that he intends to depart the network after its chief executive, Mark Thompson, booted him from the morning programming lineup — a move that conspicuously coincided with Donald Trump’s return to power.
CNN brass, as we first reported earlier this month, decided to strip Acosta of his 10am show, which he has anchored to great ratings success over the last 11 months, at times even seeing higher viewership than programs in the channel’s prime time bloc.
Acosta was instead offered the less-than-desirable option of anchoring a show from midnight until 2am ET.
CNN pitched the gig to Acosta as anchoring during prime time on the West Coast and said he could move to Los Angeles to host the program. But the reality is the program would have aired at a time in which cable news viewership is at its lowest levels.
So they’re sending him to the dungeon. Acosta has long been a thorn in Trump’s side. You may recall how he lost his press credentials at the White House for a time. Then there was another incident where one of the White House staffers attempted to take a microphone from him. Supposedly he assaulted the staffer, which is insane. This was live TV. I remember seeing it with my own eyes.
But those incidents and everything we have seen in the Era of Trump have made it clear as glass that the media has failed us because the media in this country is controlled by billionaires and they are going to go with the prevailing winds and the truth be damned.
This is a central theme that historians will focus on in the future, how a free press just curled up and died while propaganda fluorished like weeds. I will be interested to see what Meidas News and other left-wing outlets can do, since “left-wing” is now synonymous with plain unvarnished truth.
Democracy has died in darkness. The Washington Post, if you hadn’t heard, changed its slogan from “Democracy Dies In Darkness” to “Riveting Storytelling For All Of America.” JFC. This is what happens when non journalists own and operate news outlets. They haven’t the slightest clue of what they’re doing, yet they’re the boss. Unbelieveable. But this is where we are and this is a substantial reason, if not the primary reason, Trump is in the White House, is because the legacy media was cowed from the beginning and the truth got lost in the shuffle.
