Oh, my. She definitely dropped the ball, and it broke into many pieces. If you want to run in an election, you need to have all your ducks in a row and then pay attention to the schedule on the calendar. She did not. And it bit her. This is actually good news for us. Much obliged to Raw Story:
Florida Democrats got a surprise bit of good news on Friday: they’re running unopposed in a heavily Hispanic, Orlando-area state House district currently held by the GOP — because the incumbent Republican failed to file her paperwork properly. According to Gabrielle Russon of Florida Politics, “Rep. Paula Stark failed to qualify for re-election in House District 47, so Democrats will win back a blue seat they have long sought out.”
And now talking about a schedule makes sense. She’ll be kicking her own arse for weeks. And take note of the people in the area who are in the majority. Heavily Hispanic. That could be good or bad. However, they are shying away from Trump now. His poll numbers with them are now terrible.
Stark, a two-term Republican elected in the 2022 GOP wave election and one of the very few Republicans in the legislature to oppose a ban on government-funded diversity parades, did not file her campaign finance disclosure in time for the deadline, meaning that her candidacy was ruled ineligible.
Oooops. It’s both funny and heartbreaking. It’s all because of a date. To miss something after two terms really is heartbreaking. Sure, it’s good news for Democrats, but still. Hopefully, our candidates will run a clean race without gloating over a missed paperwork submission. Yes, she’s a Republican, but we need to rise above it and not keep bringing it up again and again and again. It’s a matter of looking at the Democrats and allowing her to exit gracefully without playing schoolyard games. Without playing any games at all.
With Stark disqualified from the ballot, the only candidates running for HD47 are a pair of Democrats: Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida President Jorge Figueroa, and state investigator Anthony Nieves. It’s the latest coup for Florida Democrats as they struggle to regain their footing after years of devastating losses. In recent months, Democrats have also won back control of the mayoralties of Miami and Boca Raton, as well as the state legislative district that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
Oh, yes, we remember the Democrat win that included Mar-A-Slobo. We aren’t exactly sure if he said anything about it. But he will certainly fume and rant about it if it’s still in his head. His memory lapses are erratic. And strange. Very strange. Hannibal Lecter? Really?? Spare us. That includes wind farms, which he gave up in the legal battle to put them offshore, and sharks and batteries. Nothing makes any sense, so let’s leave them alone and get out of here before anyone notices, and we have to listen to him again.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
